The other day I saw the reason why all the bus stops now have that friendly "Don't chase after the buses! We don't stop for you!" sign.
A woman had just missed her bus, so she ran to one of the docking bays it would pass by and tried to wave the bus down. As the sign said, they didn't stop. So the lady ran across the horseshoe and tried to flag that bus down on the other side.
Still the bus didn't stop. So the lady JUMPED IN FRONT OF THE BUS. It stopped for that. But the driver refused to open the door for her, so she started banging on the door.
By that time, one of the guys in the important orange vests arrived and escorted her away. I wish I could have heard what they said, cause she looked like she was really angry.
Once they were both safely on a sidewalk, the orange vest guy pointed out the sign and read it to her. She, of course, felt those rules shouldn't apply to her. She didn't understand why the bus couldn't stop for her, since she rides the bus all the time and is such a good customer. (Lady, here's a tip: You are not a good customer when you try to damage the bus.)
The guy was tired of fighting with her, so he sent her to go complain to his supervisor. I was pretty impressed by how calm he was. If I was in his shoes, I would have had that crazy lady arrested.
