I waited a full hour this morning to catch a train. Trains were running 10 minutes apart and were packed to the doors by the time they reached my station. And this is the second time this week that that has happened.
Last week was pretty horrible too. Best of all, I get to pay peak prices for the privilege of getting to work late. And they're raising fares at the end of the month. With a peak of the peak fare going into effect. I seriously doubt I'll be getting any better service despite the extra cost....
Here's some other fun news stories I read about metro just this morning:
- Both the driver that ran a red light (hitting a taxi and killing one of the passengers) and the driver that jumped out of his bus to punch McGruff the Crime Dog have been re-hired. With backpay. One of them is being paid to sit at home and do nothing because he's too much of a danger to put behind the wheel of a bus.
- Metro has planned a memorial for the victims of last summer's red line crash. And neglected to invite any of the victim's families. The families learned about it from reporters. Metro says they plan on sending them an invite...eventually. May the day before? "By the way, we're doing thing tomorrow for those people we killed. If you're not doing anything, stop on by!"
