I finished my water bottle holder! Yay! I'm so proud of myself!

Hydrate! Water Bottle Holder

I had trouble with the pattern, but Tara saved the day by explaining all the confusing parts. I wouldn't have been able to do it without her. The pattern was really really poorly written.

Now that I know how to do it though, I think I might make a few more. This would be a really good gift for people who drink a lot of water! :)

Thanks! Though I think yours came out nicer. Your stitches are always so much more even.

Thank you! I think that just comes with practice. My first crocheted stuff looks awful.

I remember when you were making your bathmat. I STILL think that thing looks awesome.

I notice you have little loops between the chains. Mine doesn't have that. I think I know why - but I kinda think it looks cute with them there. If you want them to go away, I'll explain how.

How do I make them go away?

I am betting that, when you SC into the middle stitch, you are only putting your hook through one of the loops on the middle stitch. Am I right?

Maybe. How would I put it through both loops? Wouldn't that be making a stitch around the middle loop in the main?

There are 3 pieces to a chain stitch - the two that look like a horseshoe should be on top of your hook, and the one that's left should be beneath the hook. That was the hardest part, it takes forever to push the hook through that space. It's way easier to just put it through one loop. The little loops don't look bad, so I don't even know if you want to change that. You can always try it out, though!

I wonder how it would look if you did just put your hook into the big hole. It'd slide around, but I bet it wouldn't look too bad. Hmmm. I might have to try that out. It'd make it go faster, that's for sure.

I think I'm going to have to just try it, cause I can't see in my head what you're trying to say.

I'll see if I can find an illustration. I know I was looking at one the other day...

OK.

this is what you are probably doing.

What you have to do instead is put your hook under BOTH of those loops that are visible in the illustration.

I still don't get it. :(

It's not the best illustration.

If you try later and can't figure it out from what I typed, maybe I will upload a video to youtube to show you what I mean.
