holytoastr | Anime: Black Butler II

The second season of black butler (kuroshitsuji) is significantly darker than the first. There was very little humor, which was a disappointment to me because the humor was the reason I started watching in the first place. I think they should have left the first season as the end and not continued it in such a weird, convoluted, and dissatisfying way.

The first episode started out with a new kid named Alois who was seriously psychotic. He pokes out his maids eye with his thumb! *gag*

Thankfully, we learn he is the villain of the season, not the hero. Ciel was a bit messed up, but he looked angelic compared to Alois.

So then we learn Ciel has lost his memories and Alois hates him for some reason and Alois' demon butler wants to eat Ciel's tasty tasty soul. Alois' demon butler had stolen Ciel's memories somehow right before Sebastian was able to eat his soul in the first season.

Lots of battling and whatnot occurs and then Alois wins by turning Ciel into a demon so no one can eat his soul. Pretty messed up and not satisfying at all!

Though the "happy" ending would have been messed up too, I guess. I really wanted Sebastian to finally be able to eat Ciel's soul.
