Feb. 8th, 2004 01:18 amI got to go out with roze and kelly. Cause they are cool.
Originally we were going to go shopping (for which I deposited my birthday check) but because the eye-place was so busy, kelly didn't get out until really late. It's ok though. I still had fun. :)
Charlie was nice and drove us down to the quarter. There was some wedding or something going on though, so there were these REALLY annoying cops on motorcycles that kept changing the traffic and told us to get off the road. Very odd.
It was no big deal though cause we were near the bubble tea place that we were trying to find. It was a strange little coffee shop. Well, I guess not that strange for new orleans. But I don't think I'll ever get used to places that are literally a hole in the wall.
I got taro bubble tea. I'd had been warned not to ever try taro, which meant of course that I had to get it. And yeah, the warning was correct. Very sweet. And not in a good way. The first couple of sips were fine, but as you continue drinking it, the sweetness starts to bother you. Which is odd cause I am the person who drinks a cup of iced tea with 10 sugar packets in it. Well, at least I know, no more taro. And at least it had the bubbles at the bottom. That makes it all worth it. Roze said they looked and felt like little eyes. So she's going to make a movie where the person has bubble tea and finds out they were drinking eyeballs.
As we left, we noticed lots of loud and light. It was a parade. Krewe de Vieux. It was kinda cold, and I was REALLY full, so I didn't make much effort so I only got one strand of beads. Oh, and a glow bracelet. Now I can glow in the dark.
I was going to take pictures but I like my g-rating on life. This parade was very er..."bottom" orientated. There were sperm brigades and people wearing potties and um, giant butts, really. I don't believe that there could have been a way to make that parade any less classy.
It was as "New Orleans" as one could get. :)
People made their own costumes. The floats were pulled by mules. Actually, some floats were PUSHED by other people in the krewe. Guys were drinking out of the cups they were supposed to be throwing. The bands were all guys off the street. And everyone looked like they were having a great time. Despite the theme and not getting stuff, I rahter liked the parade. It seemed very...natural.
Anyway, afterwards we went on a quest for "stuff to do" since well, everything was closed. We had jsut about decided to venture into the casino (now that I'm 21 and can gamble in this state) when charlie called. So instead, he and scott came and picked us up and we went to camillia grill for food. I wasn't really hungry until I walked through the door but then the power of the grease spoke otherwise. I got french fries so greasy that I had to wipe each one off before eating them.
Eventually it was time to go home. But I really appreciated everyone doing stuff with me. It was good to get off campus. And really good to hang out with people.
For the rest of the evening I sat around and harry potter came by for a bit and people came in and out and I was pretty sleepy and I think I'll go to bed soon. Hopefully there won't be another fire alarm. Hopefully.
