Jun. 13th, 2004 12:53 amThis evening, amanda had an open invitation to watch a movie at her place. Desperate to get out of the house, I quickly announced that I would be coming.
Just getting out of the house was a challenge. My mother, the over-protective freak that she is, made me promise I would be home before midnight. Yes, I'm 21 and I had a midnight curfew....*sigh* Her excuse was that she jsut saw on the news, someone had got shot in their car recently. So, somehow, in her mind that meant I was going to die if I was out of the house after midnight.
Then driving to amanda's house, the entire universe forgot how to drive. Seriously, there was a person who was driving ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!! That was so not cool. VERY not cool.
Nevertheless, I got to amanda's safe and sound and only mildly late. We ordered pizza and sat down to watch Thirteen. Oh, and got attacked by a psycho cat that liked to bite. :P
Thirteen is about a thirteen year old girl who starts hanging out with the wrong crowd in an attempt to become popular. So you know, drinking, sex, drugs, that kind of stuff. I had been told the film would be intense and stuff, but actually it didn't phase me much. The only parts where I had to look away were the piercing scenes. (I don't like needles.) Maybe I've become desensitized or something.
It wasn't even taht good of a film. Putting it on a scale of films I've seen recently, I'd put it between kill bill and van helsing. But the hanging out with amanda part was really cool. I don't get to see her very often.
