Jul. 20th, 2008 08:01 amGuess who got to spend the night in the ER? Wheeeee.....
Last night I was watching tv with ben, nothing exciting, when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my lower right back. It felt a bit like I had twisted a muscle, but it was far deeper than the muscle.
Nothing I did could relieve the pain. I thought I would die. I had never felt so much pain before in my entire life.
Ben was worried about me so he took me to the ER.
I was impressed by how quickly I was admitted. I guess it was a slow night for them because they started checking me as soon as I walked through the doors.
After I got a room, the doctor came in and asked me a few questions, then asked a nurse to get me some pain meds. Those didn't come soon enough though!
The pain was so intense, I threw up. I was so embarrassed. Ben was amazingly sweet and held the vomit bucket for me.
But once the pain meds kicked in, I felt much better. They made me really sleepy and dizzy. I kept falling asleep between tests.
After a catscan (scary!), they confirmed I had a kidney stone! So now I have directions to drink massive amounts of water and visit a urologist. Yuck.
They also had me sift my pee to collect the stone, which came out this morning. The thing was the size of a GRAIN OF SAND. How did something that tiny cause me that much pain!? Madness!
I'm glad it came out early though. The pain meds they prescribed me are suppositories and I was NOT looking forward to that.
