Lettuce - The internet says that lettuce is one of the easiest crops to grow. If that's true, why haven't I been able to get even one plant to survive to maturity?Everything else I planted this year is doing really well. What am I doing wrong with lettuce?
Tomatoes - My cherry tomato plant flowered while I was away and now has a couple little green tomatoes on it. I hope some more of the flowers turn into food. I think next year I should plant some decorative flowers to attract bees towards my veggie flowers.
Cucumbers - My cucumbers have had flowers for what felt like forever but nothing was happening with them. Finally this week tiny cucumbers formed on one of the plants. Yay! I hope they all get big enough to eat.
Carrots - I have no clue when to harvest these things. Or how. But they appear to be growing. Curse you, root plants for being so confusing.
Spinach - I am going to attempt to grow spinach entirely indoors under my grow lamp. I figure since it's a crop you pick before it matures (for baby spinach anyway), it should be ok staying inside.
Hydroponics - At the wedding shower, ben and I got a nifty little hydroponic tabletop gardening kit. It makes me feel like a nasa scientist. It came with flowers as the starter plants, but if I manage to grow them successfully I think I'll get herbs next. The only annoying thing is that it's designed so you have to buy their proprietary seed cups. I will have to see about hacking that. The cups are a bit overpriced.
