Oct. 26th, 2009 02:16 pmI am considering taking a half day off from work to see the terra cotta warriors exhibit. It happens to be right across the street from my office. :)
I did an art report on these guys in college. I ended up really loving the guy that they were made for. China's first emperor was crazy and delightful and evil and great.
Sure, he brutally tortured and murdered wherever he went, but he unified China! And the alphabet! And weights and measures!
And yes, he tried to burn all of Confucius' writings, which I kinda approve of that because Confucius was a lame momma's boy with no valuable contributions to the world. (My personal, very biased opinion.)
Oh, and there was this great story about how a meteor fell and someone wrote a prophesy on it that the emperor would die and the empire would fall apart. Since no one would admit to writing it, Qin Shihuangdi killed everyone in all the nearby towns.
Totally insane.
So yeah. I want to see the terra cotta warriors.
