Yesterday morning started out shocking with the news that they finally caught bin laden. I saw the president's tweet that he was about to talk about something important just as I was getting into bed, but I assumed it was something to do with gas prices. My assumption was pretty far off.

It was bizarre how one man's death brightened everyone's mood that morning. People were POLITE and SMILING on the train. On a Monday morning! Pretty crazy.

The rest of the day was calm after that. Spent most of the day answering questions for people. Then our marketing agency made a big mistake that psycho boss don't catch, so next week I get to sit through a mind-numbing lobbying meeting that I have already had to sit through twice.

In the evening, ben went to bed early so I cleaned up a little around the house. Then I went to bed early too. Unfortunately I woke up again at 4:30 from a terrible nightmare. It left me so drenched in sweat, I had to get up and shower. Ben wasn't there to comfort me after the nightmare because he had a late night shift at work. Then my dog thought it was playtime, so I had trouble falling back asleep.

Ben crawled back into bed about 15 minutes before my alarm went off. I was bad and stayed in bed an extra 20 minutes to spend some time with him.

I hope today goes fast. Ben has a game tonight, so at least I get to leave early today.
Marketing agency was full of epic fail today.

1. They completely missed the maildate for the April Oil Spill Appeal. It was supposed to mail April 15th so it would arrive in homes around April 20th, the anniversary of the gulf oil spill. It ended up mailing TODAY.

2. The May C4 Appeal was supposed to mail May 1st. That mail date was firm and we were told by the C4 people that we absolutely cannot miss that date. So of course now it's mailing on the 10th. Because 100% of the people in this appeal were also supposed to get the April Appeal. I gave the agency a fierce scolding but those idiots don't care.

3. I learned that they haven't been having kickoff meetings with psycho boss or old boss. They've just gone ahead and made whatever packages they wanted without consulting anyone. My jaw nearly hit the floor. No reputable marketing agency just goes ahead with an expensive project without first getting the client's approval.

4. In a meeting with psycho boss, I was explaining how the agency doesn't build enough time in their schedules and they ask for turnaround in a matter of hours. Psycho boss told me I needed to push back and get them to listen. Old boss' assistant then said, "Oh she does! I used to think she was lying, but she really does yell at them all the time about their schedules. And they don't listen to her at all!" I can't figure out if she was purposely backhanded complimenting me there. Why would I make any of this stuff up?

5. Got to my desk to find more urgent copy from the agency. They wanted to know how fast I could get edits back. I explained for at least the sixth time that since the people who need to review it are out on retreat all week, they won't be getting edits back until late next week. This shocked them. I will probably have to remind them again and again all this week.
