Last weekend we packed the house to the gills for a small kaylie memorial thing. Despite the circumstances, it was really good seeing everyone. We definitely need to see each other more often than weddings and funerals.

Ben and I hosted, so we tried to make everyone as comfortable as possible despite air mattresses wedged into every spare room we had.

Of the small number of funerals I have been to, I have liked the modern jewish shiva best, so I tried to model the weekend a bit after that. Tons of food magically appearing on tables as the mourners tell good stories about the missed.

And we really did have tons of food. I did my best to make sure no one had to lift a finger if they got hungry.

At some point in the middle of the last night, Ben and his friends buried kaylie's dice in our backyard. I think that was a nice gesture.

My dogs appear happy the whole thing is over. They can go back to their daily routines in our quiet house.
