The way news is reported is interesting.
Jul. 7th, 2005 09:27 amHmmm, so there was an attack on London this morning. When you read reports from around the world, it is interesting.
Papers from American, England, and other allied countries are all going, "Yes, it was al-Qaida! No doubt about that! We told you we were right! See what happened!" These articles also use lots of action!words like, "panic" and "chaos." Because explosions happen every day and you need to pepper and salt the article to make it more exciting for the readers..... ;)
Neutral countries have tended to say that it could be al-Qaida, but point out that London recently got the Olympics AND Blair is hosting the G8 Summit. It could be any number of groups, these papers suggest.
Papers from countries that are decidedly anti-american/anti-british have some interesting ways to report it. One put "terrorist attack" in quotes, like perhaps it could have been a silly accident from a coke can shaken too hard. Another paper actually reported that the explosion was cause by broken gas mains or something. However, that report was very early and since then the paper has moved to a more neutral position.
Anyway, less goofing off. Back to work.
