Oct. 5th, 2005 11:37 pmAfter work today, I was still feeling a little down but I didn't want to just give up and cry like I did yesterday. Instead, I got myself all ready and went to the fabric store.
Or tried to.
About half way there my car starts making this horrible dragging noise when I break. It felt like something was stuck under my car. I pulled into a parking lot to see if something was stuck, but everything looked clear. My only suspicion was maybe the breaks were going bad.
Rather than risk an accident, I turned around and drove home. Even used less direct roads to avoid traffic and constant breaking. Then when I got home, I cried in bed to ben.
Eventually I got my parents on the phone. I asked dad about it and he confirmed my suspicions. He said it sounded like the rear breaks broke or got loose and weren't fitting together right anymore. So then I got to stress about getting it fixed. (Also on the phone, mom informed me that grandma might have breast cancer again.)
I was getting really depressed and curling up into myself. Ben dragged me out of the apartment for a walk, which was a nice temporary relief. Then we started watching House of Flying Daggers while he made me dinner. Ben is the sweetest boy ever and I don't think I'll ever deserve him.
We took a nap halfway through the movie. Ben was being sweet and he was full and sleepy, so I didn't mind putting the rest of the movie off for another day.
Then when I drove him to work, the horrible noise just stopped. It's gone now. I don't know if it was really the breaks or what, but it's gone. I guess what I'm going to do now, if it resolved itself permanently, is mention the weird noise next time I get my car inspected but otherwise ignore it ever happened. Hopefully it won't come back.
Maybe tomorrow I can get myself to the fabric store.
