Oct. 6th, 2005 09:08 pmI think I may throw up.
I got in my car at 7 to find fabric. There was a bit of a drizzle, but it wasn't too bad. Now I wish I had gone back into the house and never taken the trip at all.
Halfway to the store, it started to POUR. Not just heavy rain but solid sheets. You could not see more than 2 or 3 feet in front of you. I was absolutely terrified to be caught driving in something like that.
The last time I was caught in heavy rain was when laura and I spent a few days in montauk. This rain was at least 3 times worse.
Since visibility was so bad, I literally could not change lanes without fear of crashing into someone. Finally, at a spot with a few bridges I was able to see I was clear and I got into the right lane and then off the road. I stayed there until the rain let up. To pass the time, I got out my map and tried to figure out where I was.
Turns out I had passed the fabric store an unbelievably long time ago. *sigh*
When the rain let up, I turned around and found the store. Took me an hour to get there. Fifteen minutes to drive home afterwards. I also got to see lots of fun accidents that happened during the storm. I'm glad it wasn't me.
I never want to drive in something like that ever again. It was so scary and I feel sick now.
