Pleasant shock for the day

I wrote a letter to a local politician about a crazy stupid law that is trying to be passed in VA. It would basically make abortion so expensive, that no one but the rich could afford it. I pointed out smart things like laws already in place that ensure these clinics are safe and legal, which is what the proposed law "claimed" was trying to do.

Today I got a reply. A personal one. I was rather shocked. And pleased. For once I didn't waste my time.

He was very nice and reassured me that he didn't like the proposed law either and would vote against it and any other law like it.

He just said that he didn't like the proposed law either and would vote against it and any other proposed law like it. It wasn't very long or anything.

Normally I get ignored, but when I do get a response it's this massively huge letter explaining how so-and-so doesn't care what I think and would I please go someplace else and stop bothering him. (Not as bluntly, which is why the letters are always so big.) So it was nice to get something short and honest and actually have the guy agree with me. (A first since I moved here!)

Er, Ken Plum. He's in the House of Delegates. I find it far too funny that he uses an aol email address to talk to people.
