My dog woke me up from a nap with sad sad crying. The tags on her collar had caught into her blanket and when she tried to wiggle free, she had twisted to collar tighter and tighter around her neck. She could barely breathe!

I'm really glad I woke up. She might have passed out if she had struggled any longer. The collar was almost tight enough to break skin. I'm surprised she could even get enough air through to cry.

Once she was free I brought her to bed with me and I hugged her and kissed her. She looked like she really needed the comfort. She fell asleep in my arms, probably from exhaustion, until my nap was officially over. My poor baby. She was probably so scared.

I don't want her wearing that collar anymore. I know she's supposed to wear it, but I'd rather get a fine for her not wearing it than have her suffocate and die.

What type of collar is it? I'm having a hard time imagining how it got twisted so tightly...

Well, it wasn't really that the collar itself twisted, but that it was pulled into the twisted blanket. As the blanket twisted tighter and tighter, it pulled the collar deeper into the blanket which made the collar tighter around my dog's neck, which wasn't being pulled into the blanket. :(

Maybe you could take the collar off while she's in the house. And put it on every time she goes outside for a walk or to ride in your car. it sounds like you really don't need to get in trouble with the city again over Noname but this will keep her from getting into too much trouble with the collar in the house.

Ben put tape around the part of the collar that was catching on things. He doesn't want me to take it off because the town would keep her for another 2 weeks if they catch her without the collar and I'd go crazy without my dog.

I used to just put it on when I was taking her for long walks, but maintenance came and let her out when I wasn't home.

Yeah, hopefully this fix of ben's will help. But really, I was going to suggest being very vigilant about ANY time she went outside. But that doesn't account for times like the maintenance crew.

I'm always vigilant when I take her out cause she's insane and likes to run off after small animals. I wish maintenance was more vigilant.

They're coming today, but I was smart and locked noname up in her cage. Now she can't run away from me! (Which is really what I should have done in the first place. Wish I had known they'd come into my apt without telling me.)

Good! I'm glad it won't be a problem this time.
