People who knit:

Is anyone aware of a lacey beach dress pattern out there? Like something you would wear over a bathing suit to give the illusion of modesty.

Everything I've found so far is thick and would very uncomfortable in hot weather.

If you are a member of ravelry, here is a pattern that I found on there:

(If you're not, I suspect it's something you'd enjoy.)

Not exactly what I was looking for, but in the right direction. Now that I can actually log onto the site, I'll see what else they have.

Thanks!

Maybe you can make your own pattern based off of an existing one?
I love Ravelry. I find it endlessly useful when I want to find a pattern for something, and the "queue" feature satisfies the "but I might want to knit that some day!" OCD part of my brain. It also has the most ridiculous discussion boards on earth, which I highly recommend ignoring entirely. :)

This is just about perfect (http://www.flickr.com/photos/48864174@N00/2441924992), except the part where I need to learn to competently crochet to make it. (Small circles and trapezoid-shaped squares don't really count.)

Ah, Laura beat me to it. I was going to suggest Ravelry, as well. Great site!

Why not take a heavier pattern and use lighter yarn? or bigger needles? As long as you check your gauge you can edit the pattern accordingly.

I'll keep my eyes peeled though!

I am not very good at editing patterns if it's more complicated than leaving a piece off. If I had to adjust how many stitches I needed to do while also keeping in mind increasing and decreasing (never mind that I've never knit something lacy before) I think my head would explode and I've give up. I'd actually like to finish the dress.
