I need to tell the catering place from when to when the party will be so they can formally lock it into their computer. They say they don't schedule more than one party in that building a day so I don't have to worry about cutting my decorating time short or anything.

I want it to end after sunset, which will be approximately 7:30 on that day. So I was thinking of having the party run from 5 to 9:30 pm.

Does that sound reasonable?

[EDIT] I miscounted. Should I go with 5-10:30 or 4 to 9:30?

what's the food situation? is there a "cocktail hour" or anything before food? is the ceremony part of this? i need more details! :)

There will be a ceremony first (at the location and already included in this), then cocktail hour on the dock (while seats are re-arranged for dinner), then probably some festivities so people can digest their snacks before dinner. Then I guess food and dancing and cupcakes at some point.

You will probably have to be available a bit earlier than that so I can get some pictures taken before I get messy by walking around.

oh of course i expect bridesmaiding to me an all day affair, based on past experiences. and if this is simpler? better prepared than not. i was just asking for guessing what would be a better schedule.

i personally like 4 pm as a cocktail hour. are you going cupcakes instead of wedding cake? :-)

oh, i am supposed to make make a cake or cupcakes or something for heliocentrism day next week if you have any clever celestial ideas!

If the party starts at 4 then cocktail hour is about 4:30 because the ceremony has to happen first. Is that still ok?

Yup, cupcakes! They are delightful! I don't think there is anyone who doesn't like cupcakes.

Maybe make Orbit cakes? They look all cratered like the moon or a sad empty planet.

No preference here, but for the sake of your unwillingness to make decisions (Guyssss, what do I want for lunch?), I'm going to say 4-9:30.
