Today was the day of evil meetings.
I woke up at 6am to try to get to work early, but my car wouldn't start. It has this problem on cold days where it assumes it's being stolen the first time you start it up. So you need to wait about 15 minutes for the security "feature" to reset. After that, my car started up fine.
I took the car to the park and ride where I learned that the next bus was very delayed. But then they sent a completely empty bus to pick up all the people that were waiting! Yay! I like when the people running public transportation do something smart. Plus it was 21 degrees out so not being out in the cold is always going to make me happy.
I got to work 30 minutes later than I wanted but 30 minutes before my meeting so it wasn't the end of the world. But I had to rush around trying to set everything up for the meeting in half the time.
I was annoyed by my boss' boss' complaint that we didn't order coffee with breakfast. My boss and I decided not to waste the money on it about a year ago because no one ever drank it. Plus our office has a really nice coffee machine that can make flavored coffee, so we can just direct everyone to that. I okayed him to death about it because we're changing the format of the meeting next time anyway, and won't have to order breakfast anymore.
Then I got the exciting job of driving a powerpoint presentation for THREE HOURS. I think I would have to invent a new word to describe how dull that was.
Right after that meeting, I had another meeting to go to. But I also had to clean up my first meeting. I was very very stressed. Luckily it was a lunch meeting, so by the time I got there, everyone was still picking out their sandwiches.
I had the worst lemonade I ever tasted. I think they must have soaked dirty socks in it.
This meeting lasted only 2 hours. I tried hard to think of a happy place as people were unable to understand contract pricing and argued about it.
By then my brain was totally dead. I took care of a few urgent emails and then left early. I am now home with my dog and I have firm plans to zone out for the evening. My most complicated decision will be what to eat for dinner.
