Nov. 18th, 2003 12:36 pmI thought I wasn't hungry, until I was about to do the dishes and started shaking when I got up. So maybe I am hungry. Maybe I'll have soup. If I don't fall down while making it....
[EDIT: Ariana did the dishes! Yay! she is my hero!]

Nov. 18th, 2003 01:13 pmI think New Orleans smells way worse than any of the cities above it. Well, except New Jersey. New Jersey is so bad, they can't pick out a specific city. :P

Nov. 18th, 2003 11:18 pmBrrrr....I'm cold.
I woke up this morning to the sound of terrible pouring rain. It was pounding so hard against the windows that I thought it was going to smash through. And hey, it woke ME from sleep, which is pretty impressive. I sleep like death.
Rather than try to go back to bed, I got up and started getting ready. Luckily the rain let up a bit before I had to go out. Otherwise I would have drowned.
Classes weren't particularly inspiring today. Though, I finished The Story of Lucy Gualt just in time for class. Go me.
I have been told that the novel was terribly depressing, but I didn't see it as such. Sure, the events in it were unfortunate, but nothing so strong as to rise an emotion out of me. Perhaps minimalist works don't appeal to me. I'm not sure. This was the first novel I've read that was written that way. It was just a very calm, quiet novel. I don't think I could ever think it was depressing. I don't think much of it at all.
After class I had some time to kill so I tried to take a nap but the universe was set against me. The phone rang quite a bit. I only managed to get about an hour of rest.
I gave up on sleeping. I sat around until it was time to go meet with Yuko. She brought me Men's Pocky! :) Yay!
She also brought a cookbook for preparing a japanese new year's thanksgiving. Lots of fish. Lots and lots and lots of fish. Remind me again why I'm going to japan? :P
Some of the stuff looked yummy though. The stuff that didn't ahve fish in it.
And we talked about how japanese food was all brown while american food was colorful. I tried to convince her that some japanese food was orange and yellow and green, but she sticks by her opinion. :P And we talked about music and how pop idols are never very good. She also asked me about the after-thanksgiving-sales. I told her that the prices were very good, but the crowds would be terrible! There are some dangerously determined people who go shopping that day! So I wished her the best of luck. :)
Currently i'm reading Ovid's Metamorphosis, which is an amazingly funny book. It's for myth class, which is the one I love, and this is the last book of the semester. It is a good one to end on. It's one of those books where you are reading it and then suddenly stop and go "WHA!?" I have decided that Jove was the first frat boy. They don't call it "greek life" for nothing. I have also decided that Apollo is the man. Whereas all the other gods have their names changed in the roman stories, apollo is always apollo. Because he is the man. And cupid is a sick, twisted child. Don't mess with cupid, folks. He will go after you with some nasty revenge.
Oh! And I almost forgot! My shirt finally arrived! I ordered a shirt in the summer. It was supposed to arrive in September. However, it was a preorder item and they must have had some problems because they moved the date the october. And finally, november. I got my shirt today, finally. But it's great. I love it. It's a tank top with a heart on it. The heart has pins in it. It's based on the poem, "Voodoo Girl."
Her skin is white cloth,
and she's all sewn apart
and she has many colored pins
sticking out of her heart.
She has a beautiful set
of hypno-disk eyes,
the ones that she uses
to hypnotize guys.
She has many different zombies
who are deeply in her trance.
She even has a zombie
who was originally from France.
But she knows she has a curse on her,
a curse she cannot win.
For if someone gets
too close to her,
the pins stick farther in.
