Feb. 14th, 2007 08:56 amLast night we got a messy ice storm. Every time I went out, I had to first crack my car out of its ice shell first. Very annoying.
Ben's company was worried about the ice so they asked ben to sleep at work. It was easy overtime since he just had to be there in case of an emergency, but I really missed him. Every time I woke up last night I'd have a moment of panic when I realized he wasn't there.
About 3am it turned to ice pellets that beat against my window so hard it woke me.
Around 8ish I called work to see if I had to come in. They asked what I wanted to do. :( What I REALLY want to do is have a snow day, but I can't say that. So I told them the road conditions and let them decide. I was told to call back in 2 hours.
While walking my dog, I watched someone get trapped in the parking lot. They pulled out of their parking space and then couldn't go forward. They had to get 3 guys to help push it until it built up enough momentum to overcome the snow.
And my stupid dog lost one of her booties!!!! She chased a bird into a bush and came out without a bootie. I got down on hands and knees trying to find it but couldn't figure out where it went. Stupid dog. :(
Anyway, I really think this stupid area needs to buy a few more snow plows. They haven't even touched the local roads yet. Everything has gone over to the major highways. But no one can get to the major highways because the local roads are covered! I wonder which costs more: the loss in labor on snow days or a few more snow plows to clean the roads.
And never mind my stupid apartment complex that hates paying to have the parking lot plowed. They must like having an ice skating rink.
