Last night we got a messy ice storm. Every time I went out, I had to first crack my car out of its ice shell first. Very annoying.

Ben's company was worried about the ice so they asked ben to sleep at work. It was easy overtime since he just had to be there in case of an emergency, but I really missed him. Every time I woke up last night I'd have a moment of panic when I realized he wasn't there.

About 3am it turned to ice pellets that beat against my window so hard it woke me.

Around 8ish I called work to see if I had to come in. They asked what I wanted to do. :( What I REALLY want to do is have a snow day, but I can't say that. So I told them the road conditions and let them decide. I was told to call back in 2 hours.

While walking my dog, I watched someone get trapped in the parking lot. They pulled out of their parking space and then couldn't go forward. They had to get 3 guys to help push it until it built up enough momentum to overcome the snow.

And my stupid dog lost one of her booties!!!! She chased a bird into a bush and came out without a bootie. I got down on hands and knees trying to find it but couldn't figure out where it went. Stupid dog. :(

Anyway, I really think this stupid area needs to buy a few more snow plows. They haven't even touched the local roads yet. Everything has gone over to the major highways. But no one can get to the major highways because the local roads are covered! I wonder which costs more: the loss in labor on snow days or a few more snow plows to clean the roads.

And never mind my stupid apartment complex that hates paying to have the parking lot plowed. They must like having an ice skating rink.
So the internet says that people shouldn't drive today without 4-wheel drive or snow tires. And the street my apartment is on is a slushy slippery mess. However, I live very close to work. In theory I could make it if I went very very slow. But I don't want to drive in this mess. However however, I need to bring ben home eventually so I have to go out in the mess anyway.

I want ben home but I don't want to go to work. :(

Also, I wish I knew if they were going to plow the parking lot. Then I'd know if I should dig my car out now, or wait until the plow blocks me in.
So my car is mostly clean except for the roof which I can't reach. I still need to dig the tires out of the snow. However, I don't want to do that until the plow comes because it will just bury me back in again.

Here comes the fun part. Several people tried to leave this morning and got stuck in the snow. Blocking my exit from the parking lot. They also happen to be blocking the snow plow's entrance to the parking lot.

So until the plow comes through, I can't even start digging myself out. Even if I tried, I'd still be stuck behind the other guys who are stuck.

I can't pick up ben. :(
I can't get to work. :)
They want me to work from home. :( :( :(
It took me most of the day, but I was able to dig my car out and pick up ben. I had missed him so much.

After that I did the bit of work I had to do (which was finally emailed to me) and played some video games while drinking hot cocoa. Then ben suggested we nap. That sounded like a good idea, especially after all that shovelling.

Ben is still sleeping but I'm up because I'm hungry. If I make something exciting, maybe I'll feed him too. Right now it sounds like he just wants sleep though.
Today continues to thwart me. While I was walking my dog I noticed that the plows had returned to finish the parking lot....blocking me in....AGAIN!!!! *cries* All that work all day gone.

Also today I got a letter from the IRS saying I owe them more money. A month or so ago they sent me a letter saying that my parents had claimed an exemption for me while I claimed one for myself and that's not allowed. My parents gave me a check for the whole mix-up which I sent to the IRS. The IRS has sent me back a letter thanking me for the money and demanding more. They say I owe them interest. I don't think that's fair for something like this. It's not that I didn't pay on purpose. I thought I didn't have to pay. And I sent them the money they wanted once the mistake was cleared up. :(
