Mar. 29th, 2009 10:06 amYesterday ben went to play d&d at the place we played last week. When I came to pick him up that afternoon, I noticed that a new asian supermarket just opened nearby. It was actually their grand opening that day.
I desperately needed to stock up on some curry making supplies (our regular grocery store sells them, but or TWICE the normal price!) so I suggested we check it out. It would be much easier than going all the way out to the asian grocery I knew of.
Most of the food there was korean, but I was able to find my curry sauce. The korean junk food was not very impressive. Some of it was a little scary. (Like the toothless redneck whale cookies.) And they had NO HI-CHEW! Sad!
I did find peach gummies to console myself, but it's just not the same. I also bought some ramune in bizarre plastic bottles. It's just not the same without the delightful sound of the marble rattling around.
Ben got some kimchi and korean sushi. Both looked and smelled terrible to me, but he seemed happy with them.
I did like that the store had much more stock of "normal" foods than the other asian grocery we go to. This one, we could do our whole shopping trip there if we wanted. The other, we had to drive all the way out there for the specific asian foods that I wanted and then drive all the way to our regular grocery for everything else.
