Last night we had 50mph winds. I don't think I've ever experienced such such strong wind outside a hurricane. The windows AND WALLS of our bedroom were shaking.

The winds have since died down to 20-30mph, but weather reports say they're going to jump back up this afternoon and may even reach 70mph! Madness!

Ben and I are going to go out in this nasty weather to pay our mortgage and buy a washing machine. If he ever finishes playing spreadsheets in space.
Mortgage has been paid for this month and the next! Yay! One less thing to worry about for a while.

After that, we stopped for lunch. We had planned on going to ihop, but the place was totally packed so we tried a lebanese place nearby. We split a gigantic sampler platter. I tried a bit of everything, but still really only liked the things I always like - hummus and falafel. I really liked the bread. So much so, I asked for a bag to wrap up my last piece. It must have made the guy happy to know I liked the bread because he returned with a bag full of fresh bread to take with me. I was ridiculously pleased by that. The only problem with the place (aside from serving lipton ice tea) was that service was super slow. But I got free bread, so I've kinda forgiven the slow service already.

From there, we went shopping for a new washer. The one that came with the house is totally broken.
1. It doesn't spin. When it gets to the spin cycle, it stops and reports an overloaded message. Even when there is absolutely nothing in the machine. So I end up with a load of completely soaked clothes any time I wash anything.
2. It doesn't clean. It handles light dirt just fine, but anything more than that is too much for it to handle. All of my socks come out dirty on the soles. The cuffs on my long sleeve shirts are gray. And all my t shirts smell like sweat. So very gross.
3. It destroys. Something in the machine is catching onto my clothes and ripping them. The machine has already torn open a patch on one of my jeans and pulled apart a seam in the lining of one of my skirts. I'm afraid to put anything I really like in there.

So we have purchased a new washer. We checked tons of reviews to get a good one that can clean without destroying our clothes and will not report crazy errors for no good reason. Hopefully our hard work will have paid off. The new washer arrives on Friday. I'll have to take off from work. I'm ok with that though because I can spend the day unpacking and applying for new jobs.
