Feb. 21st, 2011 12:30 amI was planning on going to a stitch n bitch today, but I had another one of my crazy meltdowns so I really wasn't in the right frame of mind for meeting new people. Instead, ben helped me unpack some more boxes. My sewing room is almost functional. At least I was able to set up a lot of my gardening stuff.
To celebrate, I finally ordered all the seeds I want to try this year. I fear I may be overly ambitious. Especially when you consider that I still need to build the garden. (Though I was scouting out spots in the yard today.)
Gardening Strategy:
- Zucchini - You can't go wrong with zucchini, right? That stuff is like a weed. I think 2 plants should be more than enough. Especially considering they taste best when they are small.
- Cherry tomatoes - Going to continue using my sun gold hybrid seeds. The seeds are starting to get a little old, but I can probably get another year or two out of them. I expect these to be awesome this year now that I'll have sunshine and real dirt.
- Colorful tomatoes - I did a silly thing and bought a pack of rainbow tomatoes. It comes with four seed packs. Orange, pink, yellow, and red. I will try to plant one of each and hope for the best. I'm most excited for the pink ones.
- Cucumbers - Giving my cucumber bush seeds one last try. They were somewhat ok the first year, and awful the second year. If they don't do well in real dirt, I think I'm going to just toss them and try a new cucumber variety in the future.
- Cantalope - This one was a bit of an impulse purchase. If I can get one fresh cantalope out of it, I will feel successful. I've never grown something like this before so I think I will need to do some reading.
- Strawberries - My old strawberry plants did not survive the move, so I ordered fresh ones. I think I'll plant them up against the house in the backyard so that the fall leaves will cover them and keep them warm in winter. They were expensive, but they last more than one season so it's an investment in deliciousness.
In the afternoon, we started having router issues. It kept overloading or something and rebooting every 5 minutes. Ben fought with it for a while. I went and took a feeling sorry for myself nap. Ben joined me after a little while, which was nice.
When he woke up, he went back to fighting with the router and I went to make him dinner. I made the most beautiful omelet ever.

Just look at that omelet! I have never made one so nice before. And ben said it even tasted good too. That is an omelet of perfection. AND it used up some spinach. :D
The router is fixed now. I should go to bed soon. I took my dog outside just a short while ago and she FINALLY peed in the yard. I gave her much praise and a cookie.
I have tomorrow off. I have exciting plans to unpack and look for a new job. I also want to clean up the first floor a bit so that roomba can do its thing.
