holytoastrI was hoping that with my promotion I would get an office. After all, I've been here nearly 5 years and everyone in my dept was fired so there were plenty of open offices.
I kept asking about it and being told that they didn't know who was getting an office. One of my coworkers ended up asking around and learned that there are no plans to give me an office.
I also learned today that a new coordinator has been hired. She won't be given an office, thankfully. Instead one of the people in online will be getting an office and the coordinator will get her cube.
While I am very happy for the online person (she's probably the nicest person I've ever met), I am really annoyed that she's getting an office before me. I've been working here much longer than she has. In fact, I was here when her position was created. I was friends with her predecessor. I feel like via seniority I should have been given an office first.
It burns extra because I know now that I won't be getting an office at all. I have no hope.
It's also making me wonder if they plan on firing me. This, along with a couple other strange actions, makes me feel like they don't see me here for the long term. I haven't been open about looking for a new job, so there shouldn't be any reason for them to treat me as a short-timer unless they plan on getting rid of me themselves.
