Jul. 27th, 2011 01:01 pmYesterday evening, I left maggie inside to take a nap and took noname outside with me to roast marshmallows. I think she needed some quality time with me. The puppy requires a lot of my attention.
I would die in the woods because it took me about half an hour to get the fire going along with at least 20 matches. First I tried crumpled newspapers to start it up. The papers burned great, but did nothing for the wood. Then I tried paper towels. They burned up and floated away. Then I tried very old dry sticks. Apparently not old and dry enough. So I got a couple handfuls of dried grass. Which burned so fast it burned itself out before the wood could warm up. Eventually with enough grass to keep burning for a long time, I got the logs on fire and was able to enjoy my marshmallows.
Noname and I shared two jumbo marshmallows. She got the burnt pieces. The melted marshmallow kept sticking to her face, which was sad and adorable. Overall, I think she had a good time. She got lots of pets and cuddles without maggie nipping and barking at her.
Today I am covered head to toe in mosquito bites. I am baffled by this because I was wearing long sleeves and covered myself in bug spray. The mosquitoes totally ignored the spray and bit me THROUGH my clothing.
At this rate, I am definitely going to catch west nile and die. I am just too delicious to disease-carrying blood-thirsty insects.
