^^;;; The winamp on this comp refuses to read the info off the cd. It's lazy! No matter how much I prod it, it won't get off its butt to read the info!

Not that I can remember the info anyway to fix it. :P

CDDB is a free service provided to the public. Most modern cd-playing programs also support it ... the client program (winamp in your case) reads the unique id number off of the cd, and then sends that info over the internet to CDDB, which replies with a track listing, if one is found. Usually the track listing is submitted by a user. So if CDDB fails, it's either a network problem (slow/disconnected modem), or else nobody has submitted a track listing yet.
