Well, the human race likes to play around with things. And they like to do everything that they discover they can do better and better and more and more. If scientists clone animals and perfect it, soon they will want to clone people. "Oh, I want to keep 'so-and-so' alive forever... let's clone him!" Yeah, I just don't see it as a good idea. :/
I think it'll just get out of hand. Just like with every other man-made "invention." In one way or another, it will start to take over us. We will want to create exact replicas of people who we lost... it will completely start to mess us all up psychologically, and I'm sure medically.
We will want to create exact replicas of people who we lost...
So what really needs to be done first is education. Cause just because someone is an exact genetic copy of a person, that person will not be the same. Our personalities form based on the experiences growing up.
Genetics is like the canvas. The world around us are the paint. When people realize that, then they are less likely to cling to their idea of replacing the one they lost.
Yes, but lots of people in this world are stupid. So they'll do it anyway.
And, yes, I know that person is not the exact replica... but they'll look like the person and people will seriously try and shape them as the same people. Some people are so crazy. Do you know how some mothers try and make their kids be doctors and lawyers? Well, what would happen if they cloned people? They'd want to make them be exactly like the ones they had lost. I know not all people, but some. I know that some aspects of cloning are good... but when it gets in the hands of ignorant people, I think it will just cause everyone psychological damage.
Ah, ok. I've heard this line of thought before. Yeah, it's basically true that people are idiots. But I'm going to be hopeful that someday they can get over their ignorance.
I really look to cloning to protect endangered species. Maybe fix a few of our stupid mistakes in the world...

Date: 2003-02-15 03:32 pm (UTC)There are a lot of misconceptions about clones.
I know quite a few people who are against cloning. But they have very intelligent reasons. So I let them be!
So what's your reason?

Date: 2003-02-16 08:24 am (UTC)If cloning can be used for things like this, then I'm for it.
But the stupid people need to go away...
