So, I need some suggestions.

I've got a pair of jeans that have served me quite well over the years. However, they are beginning to show their age. Some areas are starting to wear a little thin, especially along the seams.

There are many areas that are starting to be a little, er, exposed, but the one that most concerns me is around the zipper. I've got two holes right at the bottom of it. Take a look at where the zipper is on your pants. Yes, I've got two holes THERE.

So obviously I cannot put a cute patch there. I thought of maybe putting the patch on the inside, but I think that whatever I used would still be visable and people would be thinking they could see my undies. Another option would be to refashion the jeans.

I was thinking of making the jeans into a skirt. Not the simple way, however, because that would not solve the hole issue. (The simple way would be to open the seams inside the legs and stitch them together.) I was thinking I would cut off the legs completely. Then I would cut them under the seams to make 4 long panels. Stitching those panels together, I would pleat them and stitch them to the top part of the pants, just above the holes.

This may cause issues with the pockets on the back. I'm not sure if I should completely go over them, or below them, or through them.

Another problem is that it would probably look like a tennis skirt. The last thing I want is to be confused with a sorority girl. Then again, by the time I finish this, that fashion will probably be out of style. :P

So, any suggestions? Comments? Warnings against the possible doom? Or maybe something else all-together I should try? I want to keep the clothes wearable, keep in mind, but if there's another way to deal with these holes, I'm all for it.
