Yesterday when I went shopping, I thought I was going to fall over. The combination of mental and physical abuse over the past couple of week plus the lack of regular use of my bike lead to a VERY bad idea. I was so so SO tired before I even got off campus.
On the way to the store I saw the roman candy guy. I love that stuff. So terribly sticky. I checked my purse but only had enough for one stick. *pouty face* So I did a good deed for once, building up some kharma points, and bought a stick for my brother. I'll mail it home with my mom's cell phone, and include a congrats for getting into college letter. There, I can be a somewhat decent person sometimes.
Then I finished my trek to the store to buy key party supplies. Chris was nice enough to help me carry my bag up to my room (since I was close to passing out) and he even offered to drive megan and I to rockethouse. Ariana was supposed to come too, but she was very very busy.
We watched The Triplets of Belleville. I wasn't quite sure what to expect of it, because the reviews for and gainst were half and half. It was either going to be very good or very painful. But it turned out to be really good. I'm glad I'd seen it. I was a little frightened by the fact that it was french, but it turns out there was so little talking that I understood what was going on almost perfectly. And it was funny. A strange subtle type of humor that hit you in the head at the same time. The frog fishing scene comes to mind.
At first, though, I was turned off by the art style. But as the movie progressed, I realized that the style was perfect for that film. It was as absurd as the film itself, lending to each other. Oh, and I loved the dog. All worship the dog. The old lady was spiffy too, but no where as cool as that dog.
Heh ^^; So after that, I went home to bake. That took HOURS! First, I made cheesecake since that had to be baked and would take the longest. Then I made dinner since I had to be in the kitchen anyway. Afterwards, I began the great rice crispy treats challenge. I had to make 2 trays, but the pot was only big enough for one. And with marshmallows, you can't keep the heat on too high or they burn. So it took FOREVER!
Added onto that, the cheesecake took longer to cook than it should have. It was still raw when I pulled it out after the full time. It ended up needing an extra 15 minutes. I suspect it was because I didn't use a mixer--rather, did all the mixing by hand. I tried to fluff it up as much as possible, but I doubt there were sufficient air bubbles in the cake. So it took longer to cook and will probably be a very heavy cake. I told mom about the cake, but she thinks it's my elevation. :P *shrugs* I don't know, that sounds a bit crazier than my guess.
The one thing I hate about cooking, though, are the dishes afterwards. It took me hours to wash all the dishes. Granted, I kept taking breaks, but still. It was a lot of dishes.
Then Katie came over. She needed someone to talk to, and although I am not good at giving advice, I am a pretty good listener. It was the best I could give. I hope things get better for her as soon as possible. *hugs*
After that, I was having trouble sleeping. Something was bothering me, but Katie actually helped me talk it out to its discovery. (She used the strange example of "toys" which kinda amused me. :P) So I sorta brought it up to the person involved, but not too directly because I don't like to demand things. But I've been reassured that what I want isn't unreasonable.
Eventually I fell asleep, but didn't ahve very good dreams. It was a weird dream that was very much like 28 Days Later. Almost identical, actually. So it was me and my high school friends and we were travelling around the country, trying to find a safe place to go, while rage-zombies chased us. (No, not the gay rage.) I was developing some sort of ocd about locking doors and windows. I'd check them 4 or 5 times before my friends could get me to sit down. And even then, as soon as I saw something move outside, I'd shoot it down without hesitation. Which is odd, because the windows should ahve broke or something. Oh well, I guess in dream-world, bullets can pass through glass. The part of the dream I remember best was getting to my grandma's house to see if her dog was ok. The puppy was starving, but not dead yet. So I was nursing it back to health and locking doors a lot.
It's work time now. After this, I'll start reading The Birds for class tomorrow. Oh, that reminds me, would anyone be interested in seeing "The Seven" with me? I ahve an essay due on friday about "Seven Against Thebes" and I thought it would be pretty cool to see an adaptation of it on stage. It's at the Palace, Feb 5-7, $10, and starts at 7. There will be burly warriors, of sorts. I'd probably want to go on the 5th, since the paper is due the 6th. If no one is interested, it's no big deal. Just seemed like something a little interesting and different from the norm.
right, so now I go read The Birds. Err...Right after this song. I like this one.
