Feb. 20th, 2004 02:05 amSorry I don't update as much. I had a slight breach in some trust and sorta got disenchanted with lj. But really I guess it was my own fault and now I know what levels of trust I can place on friends.
Anyway, onto that silly life stuff.
Wednesday..Wednesday... Oh yeah, the quiz of doom. I had a terribly quiz in japanese that I just didn't have time to study for. So sure enough, failed miserably. I've really got to work on picking up my grades.
But wednesday was also parades! So that's good.
Roze had called beforehand to apologize since I couldn't go to her mardi gras thing at her apartment. I told her it was ok and that I understood and that I just want to keep the peace for now. But it was nice of her to at least acknowledge what was going on. And maybe, I can go visit another time.
I went to the parades with ariana's friends. They seemed nice enough. They made signs and everything for the parades. Very cool. And we gathered up and went down to the parades and got a spot in front of superior grill.
Now, this is a good spot when you are gathering large amounts of people, but a bad spot to stand in general. Areas near restaurants and bars are toooo crowded. And then there are usually very VERY annoying people. Like the people we all stood near that stole everything, jumped in front of all of us, and nearly threw me to the ground for simple plastic.
But aside from the people that tried to kill me over shoe-bracelets, I had a very fun time. I got to see very cool stuff. Muses has definitely has the best entertainment so far.
I was very impressed by the guys on the unicycles. It makes me want to learn how to ride one. It was just SO cool!
And then there was the Elvis army.
I have never seen so many Elvises (Elvii?) in my entire life. There were many many many of them. It was almost inspiring.
But the whole reason I was at the parades was because Kelly is in Muses. And even though I couldn't be with the rest of the group, I was determined to cheer her on anyway. And I made sure lots of people were there to help me. Ben, jenny, and a bunch of jenny's friends all came. It was very exciting.
I don't think Kelly expected me when I was shouting at her. She kinda just threw whatever cool stuff she had at arms reach at me, before her float ran away from us. But I saw her! And she saw me! :)
Well, it's jsut as well that she wasn't too prepared for me. I bet if she had tried to give me anything fancy, the mean nasty people next to me would ahve stolen it. They were terribly greedy people.
Speaking of mardi gras greed, I gave the football that kelly gave me to ben cause he expressed interest the other day in a football. He really has no use for a football, but during parades, he wanted one. Mardi gras has that weird effect on people. Heh ^^;
At one point during Muses, the parade stopped for a long time. We had jsut assumed that a tractor had broken down. I was shocked to find out the next morning that there was a shooting. Can you believe that? And another shocking thing is taht the news never made its way through the crowds. You'd think something like taht would travel up and down faster than any rumor. But not a word. Weird.
We also didn't talk about the incident in class today, which I thought was odd because our lecture right now in cultural criticism is mardi gras. So one would think a thing like that would be discussion worthy. Not mentioned a bit.
Anyway, after the parades, ariana, ben, and I went to my room and harry potter met up with us soon after. I wasn't terribly exciting though, because I had to study for a midterm. But we ordered food. I was starving. And once I was fully I sorta started falling asleep all curled up on the floor.
Then thursday was a busy day. Not a moment to rest! I had japanese where we had to interview a guy (so scary!) and then asian peoples and cultures where we had a midterm (so easy!) and then cultural criticism where we had a field trip to the library to see the carnival exhibit (so many beads!). Then I had about an hour to shove food in my mouth and run down to the hullabaloo for production night.
I was actually pretty busy for production. They gave me, more or less, free reign of the news section. Unfortunately, there was a ton of space and very few articles. So I had to keep annoying them to find me pictures and pull more articles for me. But I filled a good amount of space and managed to organized the gaps into house ads.
And the production editors have finally warmed up to me a little. I know I am terribly shy and tend to push people off because of that, so it takes a long time for people to get used to me. But they ahve finally started to. They asked me if I'd like to go on a break with them (A break I so desperately needed.) and then offered to get me something to drink when they went on a coffee run.
They also apologized to me for the main editor forgetting my name. I reassured them that it was ok. (I don't know the main editor's name.)
After 5 and a half hours of production, I went to join the ddr people in the mayer lounge. Even though I really needed sleep, I made an effort to play. And despite an awkward moment in the evening, I had lots of fun. I'm glad I played. I'm really hurting from it now though. *blinks* And I've got work until 5. Hope I can make it!
And now....
Here's
justdandy wearing one of out ever so stylish Anti-Cupid Task Force shirts. She was sooo cold that night though.
And here's
aristarla modeling her mardi gras shirt at muses. My mom said her shirt was interesting.
And here's
zorikin showing off one of his mardi gras catches. Giant, hideous, plastic, whistling lips. Only during mardi gras would anyone wear them proudly. ^^;;; Heh *glad no one had a camera when she was wearing hers*
