Feb. 8th, 2006 08:06 pmAfter work ben and I went to trader joes. At the checkout line, the guy ringing up our food told us we were a cute couple. I had been holding ben's hand. Ben explained that my hands were cold, which made me think he was a little bit embarrassed by the whole situation. Then the guy asked us a billion questions. So nosy. I was relieved when we could leave.
I finally ironed my darwin shirt. The white got sorta...gray. It's ok, I guess. If anything, it makes it look like it was from newsprint or something.
I just read an awful story about a woman who miscarried really late in the pregnancy and her doctor refused to perform surgery to remove the body because he thought that was an abortion or something. Even though the baby was dead. Her body wasn't able to flush the thing out, so she needed help. All the doctor was willing to do was lecture her on how she needs to get married. Since her doctor wouldn't do it, and it was potentially fatal to do nothing, she went to an abortion clinic. There, she was forced to go through a waiting period and sit through lectures on alternatives to abortion. Even though it wasn't a real abortion. I bet that was awful to sit through, considering she wanted the baby in the first place. And then, she had to fight with her insurance company because they considered the whole thing elective surgery.
And now I'll go try to forget about this awful thing by knitting. According to a different article I read recently, knitting represents my desire to return to a time before feminism when women were more carefree and could just have babies and knit all day.
I need to stop reading non-mainstream news. It has the most terrible stuff.

Trying to look on the bright side
Feb. 6th, 2006 09:09 amLast night ben helped me make a "Darwin Has a Posse" shirt. (Well, I still need to do the final step of ironing on the image.)
I'm going to wear it on Sunday when I go see the baby panda at the zoo. It will be Darwin's birthday. And I shall be oh so fashionable.
Now I just have to hope it's not too cold that day.
