Woo! Got tickets to Wicked!

The show is on tour around the country. I have wanted to see it for a long time, but going to NYC is kinda inconvenient and expensive. Unfortunately I procrastinated really bad, so tickets for their touring show were almost sold out!

And the Kennedy Center's website leaves something to be desired when you are trying to buy tickets. First you click on the date you want to go. Then you choose the section you want. Then you choose the seats you want. And if those seats have not already been taken by someone else, you can buy them.

Repeat that process for every weekend from June-August....

It made me crazy when it claimed there were 2 seats in a section left, only to discover the two seats were on total opposite sides of the room.

What the site really needs is a search engine where I could input, "Wicked, weekends, 2 adjacent seats, less than $100 each" and out would pop a list of dates and seats that matched what I wanted.

It took me hours to find tickets their way. But at least I finally got them. Every performance was nearly completely sold out. I ended up getting Orchestra level, row Z on July 31st at 7:30. Ben offered to buy me some opera glasses.

I'm currently reading the book the show is based on. I will probably finish before the end of July. It'll be good to see how they compare. I have been told the show is very loosely based on the book and isn't as dark.
Ben took me to see video games live last night. It was at the kennedy center which I learned is very very fancy. The show wasn't as fancy as the hype, but it as still pretty neat. While the national symphony orchestra played music, they played scenes from the games. (Except for kingdom hearts and final fantasy because square wouldn't give them permission. Disney, on the other hand did, so they were able to show clips from disney movies instead.)

They also had people play games on the giant screen. In a giant game of space invaders, they tracked the guy on the stage so his movements actually matched up to the space ship. There was also a giant game of frogger, but that wasn't motion-tracked, just big.

The finale was one-winged angel which was really impressive. It made me, temporarily, forgive square and the final fantasy series.

This morning was less pleasant. In tae kwon do class, we had special anti-rape training. We learned how to throw a guy to the ground if he grabs you, keep a guy off of you if he gets you to the ground, how to throw a guy off of you, and how to break his arm once he's on the ground. We were also taught a point in the wrist that hurts so bad, it weakens both arms. The teacher made sure I wouldn't forget the spot because he scored my wrist with his nails. I really hope that fades, because otherwise it's going to look like I tried to kill myself.

When I came home, ben cheered me up by making lunch. Now we are watching sicko. It's reeeeaally depressing.
