Jul. 22nd, 2005 10:00 amYou have no idea how happy it makes me that my car worked this morning. It's fantastic. And it only took me 10 minutes to get to work! Yay!
So, on a bike, if I don't get lost, it takes me half an hour. Bus+walking takes slightly more than an hour. Car, 10 minutes.
As much as I think it is important to use less environmentally unfriendly forms of transportation, it's hard to follow through with it because it takes so long to get where I need to go and then I'm too tired to do what I need to do.
Public transportation needs some reworking down here. It needs to go to more locations. The bus line should be able to take me closer to work than it does. It stops at practically the town line between reston/herndon and great falls. Perhaps the wealthy don't need buses?
But yes, having a car is fantastic.
I need to make phone calls today but I am terrified to do so. Unbelievably terrified. I need to get information they may not have from a department that I may not be allowed to speak to. I have trouble coping with rejection, so this looks to me to be a very bad experience.

Jul. 10th, 2005 02:56 pmToday was the Reston town fair. I'm obsessed with town fairs. Ben was wonderful and went with me. :) We got a free map, signed a petition, and ate a waffle. All in all, a very successful adventure.
Now we are trying to sleep, but my keeps waking us. Someone was moving in, I think, and she was barking so much. The noise finally stopped, so maybe I can go back to sleep.

Jul. 2nd, 2005 01:12 pmMy car is currently getting its flat tire replaced and an oil change. At 2, I'll probably call them and see how it is going. I have to walk there, so hopefully they can give me a good estimate of time. They said it would be done around lunch time, but it's starting to get into the afternoon now. *worries* I am unhappy with the idea of leaving my car someplace strange.
Anyway, on our walk home, ben showed me this nifty tunnel under the road! It was so cool! No need to cross a street of death! I approve.
Ben is asleep now. He will probably be asleep for a very long time. *pouts* It is inconvenient that he works at night and I work during the day and our weekends don't line up. At least he has monday off though. We're going to go to DC and watch the fireworks there.
Fireworks are legal down here, so ben mentioned that he wants to try his own show one day. A wave of memories of getting burnt came back to me. I think I'll let him handle all of that. But I'll make sure to have lots of burn cream on hand. :P

I woke up early to walk the dog and feed her. Then I picked up ben and got to go back asleep. Eventually I couldn't sleep anymore, so I got up and ate breakfast. After that, I finished the bath mat (pictures eventually) while watching Mulan. I had a very slight panic attack during the movie from thinking about my mom and how much she is going to kill me when she finds out my treachery. I tried to focus on my crochet and eventually the shaking passed.
I was very happy when ben woke up. So happy that at one point I started to cry. I think that was the second...no, wait, third time he's made me cry from being happy. I love him. ^^;
Ben took me out for a celebration freedom dinner tonight. We went to this mexican place. I miss new orleans food. This town is severely lacking in the food department. But we both managed to make ourselves painfully full.

After dinner, we went food shopping to stock up on things to eat. And then we walked the dog. Now we are happy and home and everything is insanely perfect. I fear when mom is going to come and ruin this, but for now I am just happy.
