Asian Festival

holytoastrWhen I picked ben up from work this morning, he told me he would be going with me to the festival. It made me very happy and reminded me that I have the best boyfriend in the entire world. But after he had gone to sleep for a bit, he changed his mind. Rationally I knew it was no big deal. Rationally I knew ben has work at crazy hours and needs his sleep. The crazy part of me doesn't understand rational though. All it understood was "Oh my god! I'll be alone! All by myself! Death and destruction will follow and I will fall into misery and despair!!!!"
I burst into tears, running to the living room so I wouldn't wake ben. I sat and cried there for a good bit, but I kept sticking to the couch. The sticking was making me even more miserable, so I crawled into the bed room and tried to cry very very quietly.
It didn't work so well because I ended up waking ben up anyway. He is far more wonderful than I deserve. He got me tissues to wipe my tears and a glass of water and then got dressed so we could go to the festival.
We got there just in time to catch the last half of taiko. I've become spoiled and commented to ben that the drums here were not as big as drums used in other performances I've seen. Still, I was entertained by the booming. I wish I could learn how to do that. It would be so nifty. But then it would give me big nasty arm muscles. Hmmmm....
They had bubble tea there, so ben and I waited on the giant line of doom. Again, spoiled me was sad that it was powder and not fresh fruit. It would be impossible to have fresh fruit though. It would b so hard to bring blenders to the park. Anyway, ben got green tea and I got mango. I forgot to taste his. Pooo to me.
I bought my grandma a painted umbrella. It's not the fanciest gift, but it's the thought that counts, right? She can display it with her many many dolls. I might also stop at a pharmacy and get her chocolate covered cherries as well. I think I remember her really liking those.
When we got home, ben was too awake to sleep. I feel really bad about that. But he's finally asleep and that's good because otherwise he'll be too tired for work.
Other than that, I did the dishes today. Ben was exempt from chores because he cleaned the nasty bowl of GREEN rice on the counter. I should start packing soon for my trip.
Oh! Ben and I got free tickets to six flags! :) We need to find a day on their list when we could go, but it should be nifty. Yay for free stuff!
