Yesterday I gave my dog new dog food. I decided to splurge and get her the good stuff. The kind where the first ingredient is a meat rather than a by-product or a plant. She LOVED it. She consumed the whole bowl nearly 10 minutes after I poured it. I felt bad and gave her extra because that was supposed to last her all day. But she immediately consumed the extra bit too.

Work was work. The usual demoralizing stuff. The super nice coworker from online found a new job and is leaving next week. I hope it ends up being a really good place for her to work.

Metro had another breakdown in the evening, so it took me a very long time to get home. Trains were running every 15 minutes instead of the usual 3-5 minutes. When I got to the bus station, I had to stop and put more money on my card. I ended up at the end of the line for the bus.

The bus filled up, leaving about five of us behind. But another one came about 8 minutes later. And since the trains were 15 minutes apart, that meant there was no one else but us five. We had the whole bus to ourselves. It was really nice and totally makes up for having to wait a couple extra minutes.

After ben picked me up, we went to microcenter so ben could buy more monitors while they were still on sale. He really liked the one he got on his birthday. Then we went to the pho place which was just a few shops down.

Pho is a perfect meal on a cold rainy day like yesterday. Ben had veggie and made it deathly spicy. I had dark meat chicken and made it super sweet. We also got bubble tea. It was a good dinner that left us very full and sleepy.

Unfortunately ben ended up getting called into work. I slept for a few hours without him. It was sad and lonely. I was glad when he came back.

Today is bitterly cold. I wish spring would get here already.
Ben was clever today and took me out BEFORE I got stir crazy.

First we went to the mall. Ben wanted to look at phones and treadmills. In theory I should have looked at khaki pants, but I hate clothes shopping.

After that, we went to a pho restaurant that we had wanted to try out for a while. I thought it was tasty, but I wasn't very hungry to begin with so I had plenty of leftovers. I also got bubble tea. :)

We also went to microcenter and michaels. Microcenter was packed as always. The lines there discourage me from ever buying anything. At michaels, I tried to find yarn for a water bottle holder but I couldn't figure out the right size. I guess I'll just order that online.

Ben was sleepy when we got home, so we took a nap. I had a dream about freakangels.

Ben is watching march of the wooden toy soldiers now. My dad would watch this movie every year for christmas. Ben has never seen it. How weird.

I kinda wish my neighbor was not bbqing directly outside their back door. This seems like an accidental fire waiting to happen.
If I don't get out of the apartment at least once a day, I get stir crazy. So yesterday evening ben took me to the book store to kill the crazy. I bought Ouran High School Host Club #13. I was pleased with myself because I had a 30% off coupon and a $10 gift card.

We also bought some bubble tea. Then went to the food store to buy thanksgiving goodies. Of course, we forgot or couldn't find half the things we wanted....

How can a food store not sell butcher's twine? I am going to make these stuffed turkey roll things, which require twine to not unroll while cooking.

It sorta horrified me that you could buy an entire turkey for 99 cents. Even chicken was more expensive.

When I got home, I read my comic and made lots of ooohs and squees that ben did his best to completely ignore. And then it ended in a cliffhanger! RARRR!!!! Now I have to patiently wait for the next one... even though the next one has no publish date yet....

After that, I ate dinner (leftover chinese food), took a shower, and went to bed. I didn't sleep very well though. I woke up more tired than I felt going to bed. Plus it was cold and dark this morning. It's kinda amazing I got up at all.

While waiting for my bus this morning, I was reading the intro to vol 4 of Story of the Stone. There was a MASSIVE plot spoiler in the intro! They can't do that!!!!! It's tho sort of plot point that will change the direction of the entire story. And they just casually mention it in the intro? NOT. COOL.

Then a fat guy sat ON me on the bus and my anger was directed away from my book. Despite all my efforts, I could not make him explode with simply my mind. probably for the best. He was so huge that he would have made a pretty awful mess.

Somehow I managed to get to work and was greeted with some actual good news for once. A raise! Yay! Only about $1000 more, but it's better than nothing. (Considering I got $1000 sorta-raise earlier in the year too!) And I'm finally making more than I did when I left my old job. (Though, you could argue I have been making more than that for a long time because this job gives me many nice benefits.)

I should go somewhere or do something to celebrate. But I'm not sure what. It's too cold and miserable to go do anything fun.

I've had a pretty good day.

This morning ben and I did a bunch of shopping errands. We weren't too successful, but we had a pretty good time together. And I had an epiphany which makes me sock problem go away. My shoes are sandals! I can't wear any sort of socks! Ha... I'm so lame.

And we discovered a new bubble tea place! :D The powdered kind, but they mixed it pretty well. It's a pho place right near microcenter. It was crowded when we got there, so ben and I have decided we'll try out the food another day. A busy restaurant is always a good sign.

We took a nap when we got home. Then I made dinner and took my dog for a good long walk. Although very little got accomplished today, I still feel good.
Oh! So I forgot to mention yesterday that I also tried on bathing suits. I figured I'd start looking now and hopefully find something I like before I go to florida.

I haven't bought a bathing suit in about 10 years. Scary!

I actually dared to try on a bikini (It doesn't hurt to try as long as it's just you in the dressing room, right?) and was surprised that I didn't look all that terrible. I found one I liked, but the colors didn't really work with my super pale skin. It fit well though.

I'll just keep looking. Maybe I'll go today once I confirm ben doesn't need the car. (Oooh, if I try the mall, I can get bubble tea too! Yay!)
Today has been pleasantly successful.

I slept late and then played with my dog in bed before getting up.

Ben and I exchanged solstice gifts since we won't be together for christmas. He got me several psp games. Jeanne D'arc cause I like strategy games, pa rappa the rapper cause I like rhythm games, and lumines ii cause I like puzzle games. I got ben a bunch of computer games.

After that, ben and I went out to finish our holiday shopping. I was pleasantly surprised by the small crowds. Bad for retailers, good for me. To celebrate our successful shopping, we bought bubble tea before heading home. Oddly enough, the bubble tea place had a huge line.

Ben played video games while I wrapped gifts. Some gifts have yet to arrive, despite ordering early. That is distressing, but I am not going to let it ruin my good mood. Those people will just have to wait a little longer. No big deal.

I think tv now and then games in a bit.

Also, arctic foxes are the cutest animals ever.
I went shopping to pick up much needed clothes items. I've decided I hate all those involved in the clothes making and selling process. They make clothes for the very skinny and the very fat, but nothing for people in normal sizes. It's frustrating.

At least there was bubble tea afterwards, so the day was not a complete loss.

Now I'm watching meerkat manor with ben. He must really love me. Aside from this show, he has also let me watch a ton of pretty cure on the living room tv. I have the best boyfriend ever!
I had grand plans this morning to be up and out of the apt by 11:15, getting to the csa farm right on time at noon. We actually left at 11:45. And then sat in traffic most of the way there. And then missed our exit. And then got mildly lost. We arrived at the farm right around 1:30.

We picked up a pumpkin, some tiny apples, walnuts, peppers, and ONE okra. I'm very proud of that okra because I was told there were none left. So after all that horrible driving, at least we had a successful day on the farm. Until we tried to leave. :(

My car was stuck. I couldn't turn the key, the wheel, anything. Couldn't even get it out of park. To add to my misery, I kept accidentally opening the trunk and honking the horn. I was horribly embarrassed. :( But the sound of my car attracted a couple who asked if we were ok. I told them my problem and the guy was able to turn the wheel enough to get the key to turn. After that, my problems were solved. I thanked them very much. They were very nice people. (A rare species in this state.)

Driving back wasn't nearly as awful. Didn't get lost at all, and very little traffic at all. Since we were in the neighborhood, we stopped at the mall for bubble tea. We got honeydew this time, rather than taro. It was surprisingly good. Ben didn't like it because the bubbles weren't frozen. I think frozen bubbles are nasty though, so I was very happy.

After the mall, we stopped at target so ben could check out the wii merchandise he was told was being sold. We got there just as it was being set up, which made ben very happy. He picked up a wii starter kit, which comes with two skins for the wiimote as well as a wii holder and some other things. Then a quick stop at chick-fil-a for dinner. They had a very nice clean bathroom. It smelled clean like oranges.

We ate dinner at home and then took a nap. I was having bad dreams though. I woke up in a bad mood and felt really dizzy. After drinking A LOT of water, I felt a little better. For the rest of the evening I played lunar: dragon song. I would like to finish it soon so I can go back to playing lost magic. Lunar is the easier game, so I always choose it over lost magic.

I'm feeling tired again. I hope I don't have bad dreams again though. :(
So ben took me to see An Inconvenient Truth. It was ok, but I knew almost everything that was discussed. Still, it was interesting enough. I just wish the people who need to see it would.

Afterwards ben and I made curry. We added mushrooms this time instead of tofu. I think that was a tasty idea.

Today ben and I went on an adventure to find a ds lite. Everyone was sold out! It was so sad! But at least I got bubble tea. Tasty. The one we bought was the last one at the fifth store we went to. I hope my boyfriend is happy with his new toy.

We got home just in time to miss the horrible horrible rainstorm. It knocked a huge branch out of the tree.

Now I'm going to slack off until the evening. Maybe I'll be able to see neighboring fireworks. Otherwise it's no big deal.
I have shiny new glasses. And it only took about 3 hours to get them!

I needed my eyes checked because it had been 4 years and I KNEW my eyes were worse. So I waited an hour for an exam where the doctor told me that yes, my eyes are awful. With my new prescription I went to the glasses place and picked out some frames. Ben was a big help there.

My new frames are a bit smaller than my old ones and a bit more ovalier. I picked the most expensive lense type. :P I had to get the super thin kind anyway since my lenses would be too thick otherwise, and the most expensive type with the UV stuff and the scratch resistance and all that.

Then we had to wait an hour for the lenses to be made. We killed time with snacks and video games and bubble tea. There is a new bubble tea place in the mall. Still uses powder though. I was so spoiled by frosty's. I miss real fruit. But it wasn't awful, just average.

After an hour my glasses were done and I could see again. Yay! My vision is so insanely clear now. I'm amazed and frightened by what I couldn't see before. Maybe I should have gotten sunglasses too....But I was thinking it might be better to get those little things that wrap around your frames. They'd be smaller and if I broke or lose them I wouldn't cry.

And everyone was right about AAA. I thought it would be a few dollars off, but I saved over $150! At this point with the car breaking and the new glasses, my AAA card has paid for itself about 5 years into the future. Insane!

Ben got his eyes checked but they didn't change much so he didn't get new glasses. He was sweet for going with me though. Especially on his day off. We got home so late, and he still made dinner without a complaint. He spoils me!
Walking to the library was a good idea. My legs feel all invigorated. And the walk was really short too! I think it just always seemed so far away because the stoplights and everything made the car rides take so long. Maybe I should walk around more often.

I got two books at the book sale. Nothing exciting though. One is a book about cooking veggies called "Almost Vegetarian." I got it thinking it might be useful when our farm things starts and we need some inspiration. The other book is about calligraphy and illumination called "Borders for Calligraphy." Other than that, there wasn't anything that caught my eye.

On the way back I was really in the mood for bubble tea. I wish they sold it around here. Not that I could enjoy it with my stupid tooth....

Oh! And as I was walking, I had the theme to super mario brothers stuck in my head. I ended up walking passed some mushrooms growing and I couldn't help but laugh. I wonder, if I had picked them up, would I have grown bigger?
When I picked ben up from work this morning, he told me he would be going with me to the festival. It made me very happy and reminded me that I have the best boyfriend in the entire world. But after he had gone to sleep for a bit, he changed his mind. Rationally I knew it was no big deal. Rationally I knew ben has work at crazy hours and needs his sleep. The crazy part of me doesn't understand rational though. All it understood was "Oh my god! I'll be alone! All by myself! Death and destruction will follow and I will fall into misery and despair!!!!"

I burst into tears, running to the living room so I wouldn't wake ben. I sat and cried there for a good bit, but I kept sticking to the couch. The sticking was making me even more miserable, so I crawled into the bed room and tried to cry very very quietly.

It didn't work so well because I ended up waking ben up anyway. He is far more wonderful than I deserve. He got me tissues to wipe my tears and a glass of water and then got dressed so we could go to the festival.

We got there just in time to catch the last half of taiko. I've become spoiled and commented to ben that the drums here were not as big as drums used in other performances I've seen. Still, I was entertained by the booming. I wish I could learn how to do that. It would be so nifty. But then it would give me big nasty arm muscles. Hmmmm....

Bubble tea, grandma's gift, and some mundane stuff )
