This was a tough week. So tough, one evening I came home crying that I was going to quit. It eats all my free time. I constantly have to work late. The hours don't line up my mass transit well, so I always end up having to come in early too. Plus I waste time every day doing stuff multiple times because no one has the time to teach me how to do anything. (But they do have the time to tell me I did it wrong. Thanks.)

Thankfully it ended on a good note. I managed to get one disaster in order by the end of the week and it only mailed a few days late. The other big disaster is not done, but it's in much better condition than it was on Monday.

The online department bought me lunch on friday. On the order form, I added the special direction to draw a pony on my bag. Which they did. It cheered me up a lot.

Today ben and I got our eyes examined. I'll get new glasses as soon as my insurance comes in. I was pleased to learn that my eyesight only got a tiny bit worse after two years. I also learned that my left eye doesn't focus was well as the right one. Even with glasses. Isn't that weird?

When we got home, I pulled up the last of my summer crops (now all totally dead) and planted garlic. I really hope the garlic grows well. I have found that most of my garlic comes from china. I find it crazy that I'm getting garlic from halfway around the world (in a place that has no serious regulations). Occasionally my garlic comes from california. Which is also ridiculously far. So I will try to become more sustainable by growing my own. I can save a couple bulbs every year for the next growing season too.

The variety I bought is supposed to be good for beginners. The only fault is that the flavor is very strong. I really like garlic, so that won't be a problem for me at all. I should get between 40-50 bulbs by summertime. If they are a good size, I will be set. :)

In other gardening news:
- Broccoli is growing slowly. I thinned the rows out a bit today and sprayed them with insect killer since something is nibbling on some of the leaves.
- Spinach may have been killed by the snow, or possibly may just be growing really slow. There's a few small leaves here and there.
- Carrots seemed to have really liked the snow. After everything melted, tons of little carrot sprouts popped up.
- Lettuce, which I thought was totally dead, seemed to like the snow too. The cold must have shocked the seeds awake because they have finally sprouted.
- Cucumbers died in the snow.
I looooove not having to go to work. Today was so incredibly nice.

I got to sleep late. And take a long hot shower. Then I walked down to the eye glasses store.

They wouldn't be able to see me until 5, so I bought myself a smoothie next door and went back home. There I played rock band for a few hours until I was hungry enough for lunch.

Ben left work early and drove me back to the glasses place. I had to get my eyes examined first. The doctor was surprisingly nice and friendly. That made me feel a lot better. I was pleased to learn that my prescription hasn't changed at all since my last exam. And my retinas are completely healthy.

Once that was done, one of the other staff helped me pick out new frames. I also picked out frames for sunglasses because they were 50% off for being a new customer. Altogether it came out to about $680, was is actually really really good when you consider I needed to get special lenses that cost a ridiculous amount. (I have very bad eyes, so if I don't buy the special lenses, they end up being about half an inch thick. It is scary.)

Because I had to get the special lenses, they couldn't make my glasses in house. I should get them in about a week. I hope I get them before my NY trip.

Ben took me out to dinner after that adventure. We went to La Madelin's and got to eat outside. It was nice until the very end when it started to get windy.

Now we are home. Ben is playing video games and I am cuddling my little dog. She is adorable.
I kept crying all day yesterday for absolutely no reason. I'd be sitting there playing a video game or wrapping packages or cleaning and suddenly boom! Tears! Why does my broken brain have to make me be so crazy?

I think I must have been lonely because I stopped crying once ben came home. I'm just an insane lonely girl.

When ben came home we ordered fancy prescription sunglasses. Mine will look like these. But, you know, with lenses in them. Then I will have the power to fight the daystar.

I had a really vivid dream last night that involved a treasure hunt, but now I can't remember it. When I woke up though, I wasn't sure if I was still sleeping or awake.

And I just realized I forgot to check that ben has enough money for the bus today. :( I am a bad girlfriend. I hope he has enough or can find enough around the apartment.
Farm letter! Tomorrow we are supposed to get radishes, garlic scape, pac choi, broccoli, sorrel (ugh), spinach, mustard greens, and salad mesculm (tatsoi, arugula, mizuna, toyko bekana, romaine lettuce, red sails lettuce and maybe another lettuce). Plus I also requested epazote and cilantro.

I think it's pretty sad that this is the highlight of my week. :P

Today after work I took ben to get his eyes dilated. Poor boy couldn't see too well. But he was sweet and bought me bubble tea and lotion. And I remembered to buy my dad and grandpa father's day cards. Now I just need to remember to send them.

While ben napped off his dilation, I made dinner. I took all the greens from the last farm share and mixed them with spinach and garlic. It was a wonderfully clever idea. The spinach and garlic almost completely masked the icky taste of the greens. I think I used a little bit too much garlic though. Woo, my breath is powerful.
I have shiny new glasses. And it only took about 3 hours to get them!

I needed my eyes checked because it had been 4 years and I KNEW my eyes were worse. So I waited an hour for an exam where the doctor told me that yes, my eyes are awful. With my new prescription I went to the glasses place and picked out some frames. Ben was a big help there.

My new frames are a bit smaller than my old ones and a bit more ovalier. I picked the most expensive lense type. :P I had to get the super thin kind anyway since my lenses would be too thick otherwise, and the most expensive type with the UV stuff and the scratch resistance and all that.

Then we had to wait an hour for the lenses to be made. We killed time with snacks and video games and bubble tea. There is a new bubble tea place in the mall. Still uses powder though. I was so spoiled by frosty's. I miss real fruit. But it wasn't awful, just average.

After an hour my glasses were done and I could see again. Yay! My vision is so insanely clear now. I'm amazed and frightened by what I couldn't see before. Maybe I should have gotten sunglasses too....But I was thinking it might be better to get those little things that wrap around your frames. They'd be smaller and if I broke or lose them I wouldn't cry.

And everyone was right about AAA. I thought it would be a few dollars off, but I saved over $150! At this point with the car breaking and the new glasses, my AAA card has paid for itself about 5 years into the future. Insane!

Ben got his eyes checked but they didn't change much so he didn't get new glasses. He was sweet for going with me though. Especially on his day off. We got home so late, and he still made dinner without a complaint. He spoils me!
Done with that nightmare!

People need to do better record keeping if they are going to try to thank people who gave them things. I spent all day trying to get everything together and making sense. And with my broken glasses, I have the worst headache. I just want to lay down and close my eyes. But I should probably get new glasses first.

Now today needs to end. Fast. I don't want to have to start any new work.
Broken glasses make my eyes hurt so much. Definitely going tonight to get new ones. Ouch. >_
I just broke my glasses. :( And I don't know where to get new ones.

The frame snapped while I was cleaning them. Now they won't balance on my face right. The little arm that holds the glasses over my ear, it feels like a tiny spring in it snapped or something.

I don't even know my prescription either, so I'll have to get a full eye exam.

Bah. I hate life!
