My dog is cuddling me very intensely. I think she missed me today.
We got into the city around 2ish and drove around for an hour looking for parking. We took my car so I spent that entire gasping and screaming as cabs came too close to my car and children kicked it. I was not happy.
Once a parking garage was found, we went to look at the tree. It was very large. While we were looking at it, a guy gave us all "free" hats and then asked for $10 each. We gave him back his hats.
Near the tree was a large pond full of pennies. It was for some sort of charity thing. I wonder how they keep people from reaching down and grabbing a handful.
By then we were pretty hungry (we had skipped lunch) so we went to find a place to eat. Mom chose the olive garden. We managed to get in right after the lunch rush and right before the dinner rush. Our timing was perfect.
We walked off our late lunch/early dinner with a walk through the times square toys r us. It was a gigantic crowded nightmare. But there was a dinosaur. It roared! And there were ddr machines all over! I wish I was brave enough to play!
After that, I needed a potty for the large drink I had earlier. I thought it would be a perfect time to try out the Charmin Restrooms in Times Square. For those unfamiliar, charmin sets up a bathroom in time square around the holiday time and advertises it as the cleanest free bathrooms you'll ever find in nyc. And it's true. For every 4 stalls they have a person standing by to clean after EVERY use.
It's sad but I think the bathroom was the highlight of the trip. You are encouraged inside by a dancing bear and a singing toilet (both people dressed up) where you then take an escalator up to a big room. On every wall are tvs playing the most amazingly annoying jingle about charmin toilet paper. The jingle encourages you to dance. There are cheerleaders, bears, and more toilets to further encourage you.
So, I did not dance. I had to pee too bad.
When you finally get to the front of the line, you stand up on a big stage like you're a star and are directed to the next available clean toilet. (Because they have to clean each stall after every use.) Each stall had a NYC theme. :P Mine was wall street. There was a stock ticker inside.
In the stall (which looked and felt a lot like the average spare bathroom many houses have) you had your choice of SIX rolls of tp in your choice of extra soft or extra strong.
When you were done and began to leave the stage, there was some mild cheering. My family was waiting for me on the couches next to the fire place (a fake one) There were free samples after that and then we were off to the show!
We went to see Ave Q. It was pretty good, but it felt weird watching it with my parents. It's hard not to be uncomfortable when you're sitting next to your mom and there are puppets 69ing on the stage. After that scene, I decided it was better if I never ask her how she liked the show.
Ave Q is a lot like Rent but funny and with more puppets and less aids. Basically, "Life really sucks but what are you going to do, so yay for friends!"
Other than that, I liked the jewish/japanese wedding, and the "it's ok if you're gay" song, and the going back to college song. I had already heard the internet is for porn song many times before, but the timing is better on stage.
So yes, I enjoyed it but I wished I wasn't seeing it with my mother. It felt a little wrong. :P
I think I'll go to bed now. My cuddly dog has passed out and is snoring. (Very cutely!)
