Discovery! If you are ever so unfortunate to have pepper jelly on your hands, I have found a cure! LEMON JUICE! The acids in the juice get ride of the pepper stuff. I scrubbed my hands with lemon juice last night and the pain subsided. It didn't go away completely, but it no longer was making me insane. And then this morning the pain was gone. Yay!

The jelly mostly set overnight. It's not a solid gelatin-looking thing like the stuff you find in the store, but it's a semi-solid goop which can be loosly defined as jelly. I want ben to taste it tonight and let me know if he likes it. (He better! We have four jars of it!)

After the jelly, I went to the bedroom to let ben study in peace. (Though he seemed to be laughing a lot so I wonder how much he was actually studying.) I got comfy and read Going Postal. I've given up on Anansi Boys again. One day I'll finish it. But I'll probably finish every other book I own first. I'm about half done with Going Postal already. Cause it's a GOOD book. Unlike stupid anansi boys.

This morning ben woke up before me, I guess to study more. My dog jumped up on the bed to take his spot. Suddenly I started to feel like something was crawling on me. FLEAS!!! All her fleas were jumping ship from her to me!!! So GROSS!

So noname got a flea bath this morning. Must remember to wash her blankets. *sigh* I'll never get rid of these fleas.

And then while walking her, I managed to step in a HUGE pile of dog poo. Disgusting and smelling and ALL over my shoe AND my jeans. I am not a happy girl this morning.

Completely unrelated, mermaid melody has taught me that hero ballads > goth pop > love songs. Keep that in mind should you ever be battling with music.
I took a long bath last night and finished reading monstrous regiment. The book was interesting enough, but I thought the ending was far too predictable.

When I got out of the bath, the water was blue. That distresses me a bit. It was a very pretty shade of blue though.

Ben didn't call me until really late again. While I waited, I tried reading Anansi Boys again. This bok makes me so sad because I hate it. I've loved everything else neil gaiman has done, but I just cannot get through anasi boys. The characters annoy me so much that I want to scream and throw the book across the room. But instead I just slam it shut and glare at it.

Eventually ben called and I talked to him until after midnight. I really miss him. It makes me happy to hear his voice. I wish this week was over so he could come home.

Of course, he'll probably have to deal with that stupid red terror alert. So bush's buddy lieberman lost the democratic primary because he was for the war in iraq. Surprise surprise, today the government uncovers some gigantic terrorist plot to blow up the US and the UK. Good thing lieberman announced he was running as an independent, right? ;)

One of the rules for the red alert thing is that you can't bring any liquids on flights. I want to know how they are going to explain to some mother traveling with her baby that no, she cannot bring her kid's formula on the plane. I'm sure the other passengers will love that too, with the hungry kid screaming the whole time.

So anyway, hello red alert. Hello police state. Let's all be good citizens for the motherland now and all that stuff, yes? Isn't it great how we have that convenient sept 11 movie in theaters to stir up patriotism again? After all, can't let it die or americans might stop being afraid and might take back their country.

Oh, I should get dressed!

I had pudding for lunch today. And an apple slice. Got to stay healthy. :)

Last night I had crazy dreams that involved lots and lots of running. And redesigned Sailor fuku. And putting all fuku on at once, resulting in looking like the staypuff marshmallow man. Weird dreams.

Before bed, I FINALLY started reading Anansi Boys. So far, its pretty enjoyable I guess. I sorta really dislike the main character, but I'll give him time to redeem himself. And I am not sure what to think of his girlfriend. She reminds me a bit of me, a few years ago. My own feelings get in the way and I end up feeling bad for her. It looks like the story will follow the usual Gaiman plot: Ordinary guy meets not-so-ordinary individual and is brought into a crazy unusual world. He tries to get back to his normal life only to realize in the end that he likes the crazy world better. I've noticed a lot of his stories follow that, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's the adventures on the journey that make the story.

The trouble with black clothes. :P

Right. So today was the book fair. I meant to get there bright and early, I really did. But I have a really cute boyfriend and he was trying really hard to make it up to me for ignoring me all week. So I stayed home later than I should to spend lots of time with my wonderful wonderful boyfriend.

The train ride into the city was crowded and hot. There were babies screaming most of the way there. It seems obvious to me that since they started screaming when we went underground, they probably needed something to suck on to pop their ears. The parents weren't that logical though and tried to distract them with toys and stuff. Stupid parents.

I got to the fair just in time to grab a seat for neil gaiman. He got on stage and was his usual witty self and read a bit from Anansi Boys. He says that he had the idea for this book before American Gods and that he felt bad for Anansi since he dies within the first couple pages. So when he wrote American Gods, he had Anansi guest star. A guest star from a book that hadn't been written yet. :)

(Which reminds me of the time I was reading American Gods in front of my uber-catholic aunt. She asked what the title was, and I told her. Her reply was, "There's only ONE God!!!" And then she walked out of the room.)

My happy, exciting day )
