I slept practically the whole day! But I do feel a lot better. Still a bit tired (the stairs leave me winded), but my sinuses are clearing up and most of my headache is gone. I'm glad I have been able to avoid a full cold.

In other news, my aerogarden cherry tomatoes have begun to ripen!

Maybe tomorrow I'll stop by the farmer's market and pick up some salad greens to enjoy with my tomatoes. I hope they taste good.

Especially because I have a ton of other tomatoes growing on the far side of the plant.

Aerogarden - Many Ripening Tomatoes

I'm going to have sooooo many tomatoes when these ripen. Plus there are plenty more flowers growing all over. Looks like this was a success.
Strange Tomatoes

My tomatoes are growing pretty weird this year. First of all, they're only now starting to ripen. It's nearly September!

Secondly, they're in some pretty weird shapes. One of the ones up there is a double tomato! It has stem, tomato, more stem, and bigger tomato. But the whole thing is attached together. I don't even know how that happens.
According to my gardening spreadsheet, I'm supposed to plant peas outside this weekend. But there's supposed to be an ice storm either tomorrow or monday so I think I'll wait.

This year I'm going to try growing a few plants that like the shade more than direct sun. I don't really get enough sun behind my apartment. :(

I ordered basil, parsley, and spinach because greens are supposed to like shade. I'll still try peas, tomatoes, and peppers, but at least I'll have some sort of backup plants for when they fail. Plus those are the 3 plants that I tend to wish I had fresh on hand anyway.

So I have it figured out that I'll plant 1 tomato and 1 pepper plant in the big pot, peas in a little pot, spinach in the other little pot, and basil and parsley in the metal tub.

Though if I end up getting myself one more little pot, it will be 1 tomato and 1 pepper in the big pot, peas in a little pot, basil in another little pot, parsley in the new little pot, and spinach in the metal tub.

I think the second option is best, but buying a new pot also means buying a ton of new dirt too. Bah.

What I really need is my own yard. One day when I have a yard, there will be no lawn. It will just be tons of gardens. So I will never need a lawn mower! :) Bwahaha.
Last night I made pasta sauce using another Good Eats recipe. I will never again make a pasta sauce without baking the tomatoes first. You can really taste the difference.

I made sure to remove the seeds this time, so I didn't have to add sugar at all. That pleased me. And I'm glad the bad wine I bought didn't ruin the flavor. You couldn't taste the wine. (I bet it added some sweetness though so I could skip the sugar.)

Next time I'm also removing the skin. I hope I get tomatoes again this week to try again!
Ben commented the other day on how impressed he was that I made stuff grow in my garden. :P Truthfully I'm impressed too. I was really afraid everything was going to die on me.
