Stuff not related to work.

Last night ben wanted to go to costco. I questioned this, but went along because ben was the one doing the driving. As I expected the parking lot was crazy. After circling a few times, ben gave up. We went to ihop for dinner instead. It was the first time I have ever seen that place quiet and empty. It was relaxing.

When we got home, I watched a documentary about Pompeii where the host was slightly too exuberant for the subject matter. There was a segment where he was lovingly rubbing the walls of an ancient sewer because the excrement was still there and could tell him what people in those days ate. I did learn some new stuff though, which was neat. I would like to visit Pompeii one day and see the ruins for myself.

Today I took Maggie to the vet so they could make sure her surgery was healing properly. Everything looks good! Maggie was super excited to be there. The staff there all love her and spoil her rotten. She came home with yet another toy. This would be toy #5 they have given her. Spoiled rotten. She also got a complementary nail trim as a christmas gift.

I think the rest of the day will be spent napping or playing pokemon. I need to finish leafgreen because ben bought me soulsilver AND IT COMES WITH A PEDOMETER! There are too many pokemon to catch and not enough time!
Ben had a bad day yesterday, so after work we went out for dinner. We returned to that lebanese restaurant that we liked. Last time we got a big sampler platter so this time we knew exactly what was best. We got a bunch of appetizers and split them - hummus, falafal, and grape leaves. I was a little sad that the bread was not as amazing as the first time. It was still good, but not amazing.

When we got home, we cuddled on the couch and watched community together. I had avoided the show because everyone on the internet was going, "omg!!!! this is the best show ever!!!!" which is an instant turn-off for me. I can't stand hype. But while the show isn't the best show ever, it is enjoyable.

After that, we went to bed. I had a sad nightmare. I dreamed I had just finished shopping at some little corner store and was about to walk home when a group of men offered to walk with me. I walked about two yards with them before deciding this was a Bad Situation and turned around to head back to the store and call a cab. But one of the guys grabbed me and made horrible scary threats to me if I fought back. So of course I fought back.

I woke up thrashing and kicking. None of this woke ben. I spent the next 10 minutes or so writing a happy ending to the dream because I read somewhere that you can reduce the frequency of nightmares by doing so. Something about how you train your brain to look for better outcomes.

Today is yet another day at work. Meh.
I can't wait to have internet back at home. Living without it on weekends is madness. But at least I am not without things to do.

Saturday was an unpacking day. Ben made me take a break to go shopping with him. We both ended up cranky and fighting, but we made up by the evening. We went out to a thai restaurant for dinner. It was tasty.

Sunday I did more unpacking. Then I went to a local stitch n bitch meeting. It did not go too well, which upsets me because I was trying really hard to make friends. Women-focused activities are babybabybabybabybabybaby alllllll the time. Since I really had nothing to talk about with anyone, I got a lot of knitting done. I'll give it one more chance, but I don't have high hopes. I wish women would realize that not everyone cares that they reproduced.

I came home extremely stressed out and exhausted. Trying to overcome my social anxiety took everything I had. Ben was sweet and hugged me on the couch while we watched Supernatural. Once I was calm and sleepy, I went to bed and slept like a rock. But I still woke up tired!
There is a campaign to get colbert to host a rally in DC. I think that would be awesome.

I think I am going to send him a plush bald eagle. (Right now I am very happy to have an employee discount.) I know that other people are sending geese, but why would colbert want a sign from canadian jesus? Everyone knows that american jesus sends signs to believers via bald eagle.

I will include the following note:
STEPHEN, THIS IS AMERICAN JESUS. PLEASE ATTEND THE 10/10/10 RALLY. DAD IS LOOKING FORWARD. ME BLESS.
There was supposed to be a hurricane yesterday, but it totally missed us. Clear skies all day. Although, I expected as much since I was using the NHC hurricane tracker rather than any of the news networks.

It was mildly baffling how even the news networks were all, "BOARD UP YOUR WINDOWS! STORE WATER IN THE BATHTUB! PILE UP THE SANDBAGS!!!!" when it was extremely obvious the storm wasn't coming anywhere near us.

I made sure our water pitcher was full and checked that I knew where the candles and flashlights were just in case something unexpected happened, but if I went my tv's panic, I would have had to lock down the apartment like a battle fort. For obviously nothing.

TV, you should be ashamed of yourself for trying to scare people. It's rude. And I didn't need every relative I know calling/emailing me to make sure I wasn't dead.
Ben asked to watched Gargoyles with me, further proving he is the best husband ever. Gargoyles is my all time favorite show. I was obsessed with it as a child to a near-religious degree. Ben's request has made me very happy.

And I've discovered new things about the show that I didn't notice before! Like how the second half of season two is carved into the walls of a cave in season one. Neat!

We watched until really late last night. We have two disks left of season two, part one. Then we need to start watching the downloaded eps because disney stupidly refuses to release the rest of the series on dvd. I will not let ben watch the goliath chronicles because I love him. Well, the first ep he can watch. But after that, it's just a waste of his time.

Today we had a lazy day, then went out for conveyor belt sushi. They had really good selection today! And it all looked so pretty. I don't like sushi, but they had plenty of stuff I could eat too today. We picked a good day to go.

After lunch, we got cupcakes. I had red velvet and it was delicious.

When we got home, we took a nap. It was too hot to be alive. But thankfully it rained, so now it's in the comfortable mid 80s. Woo!

We watched Fantastic Planet in the evening, which was a bit strange but not all that bad. Ben and I were very aware of how american we are though because the first thing we noticed was that all the women were topless.

I should go to bed soon. Saaaad...
Yesterday I finally beat that insane Fire Emblem battle. Sleep helped clear my mind. I worked out strategy while I slept.

I was so happy with my victory that I ran into the bedroom and woke up ben. I had to tell someone or I'd explode!

Fire Emblem games make me crazy. I don't know why I keep playing them. They are brutal. I've never finished one!

Anyway, after that, I put down the video games and attempted to be productive. I did a couple loads of laundry, washed dishes, took out trash, and started to clean the kitchen. When ben woke up, we went to the comic book store. I have been making a point to go once a month rather than once every 3-4 months. Now the employees recognize me when I come in and have my folder ready for me. :)

Unfortunately my main goal for the trip, Darkwing Duck #1, was sold out. Pooooo.

We had a smoothie break after that because it was very hot out. Then we went to the mall because there was a sale and I needed clothes. Mission accomplished with everything half off. Also, the guy at the register told a horrible line cutter to get to the back of the line, so I left the store in a good mood even though I hate shopping.

In the evening, we ate dinner and watched Big Bang Theory. I am disappointed that so many people recommended it to me because IT'S A ROMANCE. I feel hurt and betrayed. Science should never be used for evil! I was tricked into watching a romance!

At this point I just need to hope that the main girl eats something undercooked and dies. Then the show can be about science and become interesting.

Ben had a bad day at work yesterday and needed some cheering up, so we went out to eat last night. We went to a new place called The Counter. It's a burger place where you fill out a scantron-type form with your type of meat, bun, toppings, cheese, and sauce. I was slightly adventurous and got olives and eggs on mine. (In addition to my usual tomatoes and pickles.) I also got an apple pie shake which was.... interesting. It tasted good, but the chunks of pie crust and apples were a little weird.

It was good, but I don't think I would go there again unless I had another buy one get one coupon like we had last night. They were kinda expensive.

After dinner we got all caught up on the venture bros. This season is pretty weird. I don't know where it's going at all. I'm enjoying it though.

Then this morning my dog found a totally new, totally annoying way to wake me up. She crawled under my pillow and made it bounce until I got up. There's really no way to ignore that. I was ready to strangle her.

I did not strangle her though, because I love her. But I may have thrown a pillow thrown at her.

My bus came late this morning, which seemed perfect considering I had 2 days early and 2 days on time this week. I should have expected this day to be late. Then the bus broke down. Like icing on the cake, right? Luckily(?) they were expecting the bus to break down, and had another one waiting at the park and ride to replace it. They just had to bring that bus a little closer and we all switched. Of course this new bus smelled like urine. Because I cannot win. Ever.

I made it to work though. And am told I can skip a 4 hour meeting that is happening today. So that pleases me. I think I will do that so I can focus on some other stuff I want to catch up on. But that means no one will see my totally awesome new boots. Oh well. The price I pay for not being completely bored!
Ben and I finished Dexter season 3 last night. We started it a ridiculously long time ago, then got distracted by annoying things like a wedding, but we are all finished up now.

Like marrying a unicorn. )
Every time I try to watch tv when ben isn't home, the stupid thing is broken.

This time the stupid server won't turn on. It's all plugged in, but nothing is starting up. Fantastic.
Ben and I are watching Jem. She is truly outrageous.
Wow, the new red dwarf episodes are really rather terrible.

The only funny part was the tomatoes. And that was in the first 5 minutes of the first ep.
Today my dog woke me up early as usual. We went on a long walk to enjoy the nice weather. Then I went back to sleep.

When I woke up again, I worked on my beach dress. It now looks like a very lacy bra.

The directions for the dress are maddeningly confusing. I am constantly doing over pieces because I misunderstood the instructions.

When ben woke up, we watched futurama movies 2 and 4. I liked 2 better than 4.

In the evening I got to cuddle with ben which is always nice. He makes me very happy.

Now we are watching the clone wars tv show, which is pretty terrible.
If there is one thing I've learned from h20: Just Add Water is that teenage girls are absolutely INSANE.
Some things are exploding at work. I think I am finally too dead to care. I decided not to worry about it and to just focus on the things I can deal with. Lots of work got done this morning that way. It was pleasant.

Yesterday was productive too. In the morning, I built a hairpin lace loom to make my pretty dress. It was pretty easy to do once I realized I could substitute the prongs with knitting needles. I designed it so it can go at small at 1 inch and as wide as 6 inches. The pattern calls for 5-6 inches, so that's about perfect for what I need.

After that, I practiced using the loom with junky yarn. I'm glad I did. It took some time to get used to the movement. Once I did get used to it though, it was very easy. I don't think this dress will be too hard at all.

When ben woke up, he helped me set up my grow lamp. Hopefully this will give my seeds a better chance at life. In the past, they have always gotten very stringy from lack of sun in the apartment, and then they'd fall over and die.

Lettuce is the first to go under the lamp, according to my handy grow chart. I planted about 16 seeds in 4 cups. I'll thin them out once they start growing. Tomatoes need to me started next weekend I think. And cucumbers a bit after that. Then I will have tasty fresh salads all summer. Hopefully.

In the afternoon, the verizon guy actually showed up. And totally pegged ben and I as geeks. Which is probably good cause we were then actually able to get what we wanted.

Noname fiercely barked at the guy until she was able to sniff his hand. Then it was like he had always been there. Some guard dog.

In the evening, we watched tv. Dexter, Dollhouse, Terminator, and H20 Just Add Water.

Ben's sleep schedule is all messed up, plus he wasn't feeling well, so we went to bed early. That was a bad idea though cause we woke up again at 1am. Yuck. I did eventually fall back asleep but it was hard.

Noname makes adorable noises when she dreams.

And now back to work. I am hungry. I didn't have time for breakfast this morning. And I forgot to pack a lunch. I have emergency breakfast at my desk, which I'm trying to save for lunch. Otherwise I'll just get hungry again. One more hour. I can do it.
I REALLY love ben. I have bought him tickets to the live tour of quite possibly the most annoying show ever.
ABC Commits To Fables TV Pilot

*squee*

Though the article mentions that NBC tried this once already and nothing came out of it...
My mom left a message on my answering machine to tell me that rachel ray got a new plastic cutting board just for cutting meat on. (In the show I watched, she cut meat on a wooden board and then cut veggies on that same board.)

I'm guessing someone complained about the bad example.
Ben and I had a stupid fight but it is thankfully resolved. I really hate when we fight. Especially when it's over dumb misunderstandings.

Ben bought me rectangle pizzas, like what my grandma would make me during the summer. They are a comfort food for me.

Now we are watching star trek. This ep is about Abraham Lincoln.
