There's a word for it!
Jan. 28th, 2010 04:22 pmI have a very hard time remembering faces. I need to meet someone at least 3 or 4 times before I can even start to recognize them. And even then, I probably wouldn't be able to recognize them in a crowd.
I cheat to remember people. Their hairstyle, clothes, purse or backpack... all sorts of little things.(You have no idea what a nightmare high school was for me. Uniforms...) Voices are also key to remembering people, although in a loud place that's not going to save me.
Today I learned that there's a word for it! Prosopagnosia. And 2.5% of the population also has this problem. I am not some lone freak. I am one of many freaks!
So if I ever looked at you like I had no clue who you are, it's probably because you changed your shirt/purse/hair and I couldn't recognize you!
