Ben and I recently received our invites to Ingress, an arg that is super popular right now. So yesterday we went out to explore the world.

In the game, the world is filled with portals that release energy. You can also get items from them if you hack them. They are normally located in areas of culture and learning. The two factions battle for control of these portals and the regions between them.

We went to a local park that maintains the last stretch of Vestal's Gap road. It was a good location for learning about the game because nearly all the portals in that area were lined up in a row along the old road. We took advantage of that to practice hacking portals. We also tried a little bit of battle, but the enemy portals in that area were too strong for us at a beginner level.

Oddly enough, just as we left, another member of our faction showed up and took down most of the enemy portals. We must have missed him by minutes.

We're going to try to find more places we can go to grind like that. We won't be able to attack enemy portals until we are much stronger.

The only real issue is battery life. Ben's battery was dead after a very short amount of time. Mine was 50% used up by the time we got home. I'm not sure this game would work well for a full day of adventure without some sort of outlet break for lunch or something.
Noname Updates

Nothing can slow down the unstoppable Noname. She thinks she's all better and can run around and jump on things and be a little trouble maker. She also thinks her cut is very itchy though, so now she's wearing a cone of shame to keep her germy mouth away. She's so pouty.

Not Enough Sleep Updates

I was invited to a google+ game of Cards Against Humanity last night. Started just after 10 and ended up playing until around 3am. So very sleepy now. Aside from learning that everyone I know is horrible and sick (including my husband), it was fun.

Personal Updates

Had to get a new doctor because I switched to Ben's insurance. Was annoyed by that, but it worked out really well. The new doctor is a lot more proactive than my old one. It was also nice that I had no copay and my prescription was free. The pharmacist laughed at me when I told her that was awesome.

Immediate Updates

Originally I planned to do some yard and housework today, but I think a nap would serve me better right now.

Does anyone else play foursquare? So far I have not found it greatly useful. Probably because I have no friends in dc. :P I totally fail at socializing!
Apples to Apples was played this evening. The entire family which I think is a first since I was in grade school.

Aside from one mean-spirited bizarro world comment from my mom (something about lincoln being a stupid person for freeing the slaves), it was relatively pleasant. My family quickly caught on to how the game is played.

We played 4 games until my mom finally won. Then she let us all go to bed. I bet we would have been up until midnight if she didn't win eventually.

Tomorrow is THE LITTLE MERMAID and I might be a little bit excited. I wish I had at least brought my little mermaid purse home with me. I'm going to sing along with EVERY song.
Hung out with tara, jess, and amanda last night.

We played a game called apples to apples which was a lot of fun, especially because I won. (Then we played a little longer and amanda won.)

Afterwards, we went out for food. We all ordered a bunch of appetizers, but it was so much food!

I stayed out until about 1:30 and got home at 2. My mom was sitting up waiting for me. It was kinda really creepy.

It was pretty late so I wasn't sure if I should call ben before bed, so I flipped a coin. It said yes! I'm glad it did cause ben was up and it felt good to talk to him. We stayed on the phone together until I was falling asleep.

In the middle of the night I woke up to the bird freaking out. She was flying around the room, crashing into things. Something must of scared her. That's why I can't be lazy and not cover her cage at night. I found her clinging to the curtains in the dark, hyperventilating.

Considering I didn't go to bed until after 3:30, I think I need a bit more sleep. I'm going to have to explain to noname that I need my pillow back.
50 States in 10 minutes. I missed 3. Ben missed 5. But together we got all 50 states.

Today there's this neat fog hanging just over the ground. I guess it's because the air warmed up so suddenly while the ground is still so cold.

I'm really glad it's friday. I have mighty weekend plans. With the weather warming up, I feel more motivated to go out and do stuff. Winter made me far too lazy.

Must go pay attention to the bird now who is making "Play with me!!!!!" motions.
