Yesterday went to laura's. Her family moved to a new house surprisingly close to brentwood. I thought I was going out of my way to pick up tara but she practically lives next door.

Laura seemed to like her christmas gift. I bought her a goat. Of course, how could anyone not love a goat? It would be impossible.

I finally got laura to see host club, which is a most fantastic show. All who have not seen it should watch it.

We also watched yakitate because tara had not seen it. Now I crave fresh baked bread.

There is a tiny dog on my feet right now. She's being very annoying today.

Updates

Aug. 22nd, 2007 09:20 pm
- Sunday I went to the air and space museum with laura and a bunch of her mit friends. The memorial to pluto is gone. Oh well. Then there was dinner while the group talked about mit. Afterwards, they went to the movies and I went home.

- Monday was a bad day because I got into a fight with ben. I wanted him to give me a kiss and he wanted to study. We are both far too stubborn.

- Yesterday I made vile roasted potatoes with shallots. Yuck. The only cool thing was I used purple potatoes. But the potatoes refused to cook evenly and the shallots were gross.

- Today I read far too much about Disneyworld. I wish April wasn't so far away.
Yesterday I tried to finish cleaning but it was a failed endeavour. The vacuum was clogged with a nightmarish amount of hair so I didn't get around to vacuuming until 11. I'm sure my neighbors all hate me now.

Laura got in around 2ish but we all went to bed soon after that. I was pretty tired.

I didn't have tae kwon do this week so I got to sleep late. That was nice. And when I took my dog for a walk this morning, I saw a fox! How cool is that!?

Ben and I waited around until everyone woke up, then we took them to an indian buffet. The rice pudding was tasty this week. Not as much cloves as last time. And the owner didn't give us attention today, which was nice. (When the restaurant is not busy, the owner comes out during the buffet and forces you to try new things.)

After brunch, laura and her boy went off to do things with friends and ben and I went home to enter a food coma. When we woke up, we did some shopping.

First we went to the comic book store. There's another person with the last name Newman who also has a folder at that comic book store. They keep accidentally mixing up our stuff. This week, I got their issue of 52 (reprint I think?)and they must have my issue of Doctor Sleepless. It's only a mild annoyance as long as they don't mix up something that runs out.

After that, we tried to go to costco but did you know they close at 6 on the weekends? Madness!!! That's when I do all my shopping! How evil and annoying. :(

Ben was especially disappointed so I took him to the video game story. He didn't get anything though.

When we got home, we watched the new Doctor Strange movie. It was goofy but not terrible for a $1 rental.

Unfortunately ben has work tonight. That fills me with sadness. I will miss him tonight.
The Balticon programming schedule has finally been released. I only looked at it a little bit, but it's making me feel better about the con already.

I haven't been to a sci-fi con in a while. It's been anime cons for the last few years and honestly, anime cons are BORING! My true love is for sci-fi cons. On the first day there were already 4 things I wanted to do in one time slot. With anime cons, I'm lucky to find 4 things I want to do for the whole weekend.

Looking at the schedule reminds me of high school when [livejournal.com profile] laura47 and I would make massive i-con plans of doom. I-con is the best con ever. I will make sure I plan bathroom and food breaks. :)

I'm starting to look forward to this con for more than just neil gaiman. I hope it'll be fun.
Attention [livejournal.com profile] taraisagoddess, [livejournal.com profile] laura47, [livejournal.com profile] amandanoelle82, [livejournal.com profile] gender107, and [livejournal.com profile] plopfiles!!!! I have uploaded pictures of your sunbeads. Please let me know if you like them or not. If you do, leave your address in the comments. (Comments will be screened.) If you don't, let me know how you want your charm changed. It's not hard for me to make adjustments, so no worries.

I took a picture both indoors and in the sun. It's a little cloudy today so I couldn't get the beads their brightest though. They get much brighter than the pictures.

Please let me know if you like them or not. I'd be really sad if you got a charm you wouldn't use.

These sunbeads react to UV rays. They turn bright colors in the sun. One of the things you can do with them is put a little bit of sunblock on them when you put sunblock on yourself. When the sunblock stops working, the beads will turn bright colors. Then you know it's time to reapply.
I was extremely productive today. Probably because if I stop to think, I'll start getting sad again.

Today I:
- Took my plants outside and remembered to bring them in
- Wrote a book on peas
- Designed a banner for an online shop
- Made sunbead charms for all my friends in high school ([livejournal.com profile] taraisagoddess, [livejournal.com profile] laura47, [livejournal.com profile] amandanoelle82, [livejournal.com profile] gender107, and [livejournal.com profile] plopfiles)

Tomorrow I hope to:
- Take my plants outside and remember to bring them in
- Take pictures of the charms so that my friends from high school can say if they like them or not
- Finish my yukata
- Get ben to proof my book
- Do laundry

Also, ben and I found this cereal at the supermarket amusing. Very Good Friends )
I am glad to be home. :)

Backtracking a bit though, on monday I picked up my car. What was supposed to be a quick "get in sign the papers hand over the money get the keys drive out" turned out to be a three hour long ordeal. Because I was taking the car to VA to get it registered and stuff, there's a lot of extra paperwork that needs to be done. The dealership was supposed to do that before I got there. But they didn't. Poooo.... So I had to sit around and wait forever until the paperwork was all sorted out. But then I had a new car! Yay!!!

Laura came over after that. She made my last day at home much more bearable. We watched PGSM and ate twizzlers and I used her as a pillow. I called ben while we were watching and I think we confused him. We also established that laura must be a princess because she can't remember her past.

The next morning I woke up far too early to pack the car, but still managed to leave later than I wanted. I was on the road by 10 and in traffic by 10:30. I continued to sit in traffic until after the merge on the NJ turnpike. Then for a short while I got to try out my shiny new cruise control.

But then I hot more traffic. Poooo. So at 2, my dog and I stopped for lunch. I bought her french fries. That made her very happy. Also the chance to pee after 4 hours made her happy.

Then back on the road, with lots and lots of traffic. Ben called me and we talked for a lot of it. That made the traffic a bit more bearable. Strangely enough, thinks started moving again when I got halfway through 495. I had really expected that part of the ride to be the worst. Especially during rush hour! I guess everyone was off from work.

Ben's flight was delayed, so I took a nap waiting for him. When I went to pick him up, I got to drive around the airport many many times while waiting for ben to get his bags. The police wouldn't let me stop and wait. Stupid police.

I was so happy to see ben again! I missed him so much! :) He looked like he was happy to see me too. :D

We got fast food for dinner because we were both too tired to make anything. Then went to bed. I was sooooo tired! I slept really well! Being home is a good thing!

Hmmm, I think now I'm going to go back to bed for a bit. Then I'm going to clean and do laundry and wash dishes. Oh, and pay bills. They are all due next week. Oh! And ship christmas gifts! (Now that there are no lines at the post office. Yes, I am a bad person.)
Just between ben and I we got a vacuum, a crock pot, a steamer, a toaster oven, pots and pans, a bread maker, and various other kitchen utensils. I was telling ben about it and he pointed out that we now have all our wedding gifts. ^^;

Ben asked me to open his gifts for him, but no one will let me. :( He hates surprises. (Oh, ben, my grandparents got you gifts too for some reason!)

Anyway, Christmas stuff.

Despite the constant terror of my accusative family, it went reasonably well. I got lots of gifts and ate lots of food. Mom made turducken. And I made far too many cookies. (Which all of the small children complimented me on.)

Then there was the usual gossip about other family members behind their back, which I have never liked. I fear the day when the topic becomes me. Though who knows, maybe they already do that about me. I wouldn't be able to find out because it would be behind my back.

Tomorrow I pick up the new car. Then I will hopefully get to see laura! And my grandma is coming over at some point. So yeah, busy day tomorrow too.

And then Tuesday I drive back to Virginia! To start my real vacation, free of terror!

I think I'm going to try to call ben now. He was supposed to call me earlier, but I guess he got busy or couldn't get through on my cell. (This area is so awful for my phone!)
Brain has shut down....Ready to go home....

Before I fall into a funk again and be mean and stupid
Happy belated Birthday [livejournal.com profile] laura47! and Happy belated Birthday [livejournal.com profile] amandanoelle82!

With the help of some chocolate and some water, my headache has lessened a bit. It makes me feel a little bit better. I do really want to go home though. The last hour of work is always just awful.
I sorta fell into a funk again Friday. Not as bad as last weekend, but still one of those moods where I wanted to sit and do nothing. Anyway....

Friday went out to eat with everyone from work. I feel bad that I didn't eat that much. Partially it's because I filled up on salad. Partially it was because the food was strange. It tasted exactly as yakisoba should, but smelled very strong and strange. The food didn't have any trace of the smell on the taste though, so it was fine. But hard to eat. Wow that smell. I wonder what caused that.

Friday was also laura's birthday. She is super old. I spent the evening fretting over what to get her for her birthday. I figured out a Christmas gift, but the birthday is so hard since I used up all my gift-giving-thinking abilities. I really should have wished her a happy birthday though. Stupid me and my inability to get over my sadness of birthdays. It's not fair to my friends.

Saturday was Amanda's birthday. I should have wished her a happy birthday too. But sadness of birthday and funk and evil car. So yeah, I was a bad friend and just sat here the rest of the day doing nothing, when it would have taken me two seconds to send her an im. Stupid me. :(

I think I'll go back to bed now.
Laura came over yesterday! Wheee! I saw so many people this weekend!

Laura and ben and um, peter(?) and I went out to eat, and then I subjected them to yakitate japan. It was very cool of her to drive down and meet ben and see the apartment and stuff. I hope she approves of ben. *worries*

My dog is going to get pouty this week. On BOTH days this weekend there were people to give her attention! She's going to expect it again today! Poor spoiled puppy.

(I use the dog in a hat icon because laura loves it so very much.)
Hi! Updating! Yes! Finally!

So, Saturday I got up WAY TOO EARLY for otakon. I needed to gt up at 5:30 to make sure I was showered and dressed in costume and ready to go to the con. I had wig issues and ended up running late, but somehow got to cassandra's house early. I like to think that my car bends the time stream sometimes.

So we got to the con just about the time it was opening. It was in a big overwhelming convention center with so many people and stairs that never take you to the place you think you are going. I was looking for laura, who said she'd be at the amv thing. She wasn't, but cassandra was. (We had split up after getting badges.)

I wanted to go to a sailor moon panel but since I didn't have a watch, I stayed for the entire amv thing. There was yuri romance video! And it was the only good romance one too! (Note: Writer very biased against romantic amvs.) Out of the funny ones, only 2 really made me laugh. Isn't that sad?

I think we went to jojo's bizarre adventure for laura. Or maybe the dealer's room. Anyway, we did stuff. And looked around. I think there was artist alley and the art show involved too. Many pretty shiny things.

We wanted to see SARS Wars, but there was a huge line and it was crazy. We were in the dealer's room when we finally found laura. I tried to get everyone to see yakitate japan, but that was full too. Curses. I would think that if you have a set attendance limit preplanned, you can at least make sure there's enough seating for everything. Especially if it's something popular.

The run-ons go on and on and on and on.... )
Yesterday ben and I watched a fantastic amount of yakitate japan. Also, ben's mommy called to fill us in on the details of her visit. I believe she is driving down. She should get here on Sunday and will leave on Tuesday. She'll be staying with us, so I've got so much cleaning to do! Eeek!

I will have to leave otakon around noon on Sunday. But that's ok. Cons are usually pretty dead on the last day anyway. And when I get back home, ben and his mommy and maybe cassandra and I will go sightseeing.

Oh! And laura will be here soon! Such a busy weekend! She's coming to otakon!

So tonight I need to clean and cosplay panic. Must go and buy cleaning stuff. And finish cleaning up tomorrow. Laura might visit friday. Saturday is con. Sunday is con and ben's mommy and sightseeing.

I'll be exhausted by monday! :P
