I already started my story, so I have no use for this one. Plus it is a very silly idea.

The lobsters in the tank have built up a religion around the claw, much like the alien toys in toy story. But one lobster starts to question the lobster claw teachings! Revolution! Possible torture to force the rebel lobster to recant. Lobster inquisition. The rebel is executed in a large display of the ruling power's might and strength! In the end, the lobster leader is taken by the claw, proving once and for all to the people that the true religion has always been correct. It is the claw thanking the leader for setting the lobsters back on the right course! But then.... the boiling pot! Oh no! The rebel was right all along! And those in the tank are no wiser and will one day suffer his same fate! burbleburbleburbleDIE!
The best thing about nanowrimo is how productive it makes me.

I cleaned the kitchen a bit. And I started some laundry. And I'm going to make pumpkin seed brittle. The seeds are toasting in the oven right now.

Roll Call!

Who is doing NaNoWriMo this year?
Instead of doing NaNoWriMo this year, I've decided to take the less stressful approach of posting at least one picture every day instead. I enjoy taking and sharing pictures, but never really take as many as I would like.

So for today I have pictures from yesterday. Halloween costumes! (You can click on each one to make them bigger.)

Here is the most adorable Miss Noname as a BEE DOG!!!! The hood on her costume is too big and kept falling in her eyes, so I had to push it back during her walks. She still looked cute though.

And here is my costume! I was the 80s cartoon character, Rainbow Brite! I spent about a month's worth of evenings working on it. I actually don't think I did a very good job on it, but somehow I won 1st place at the company costume contest. The wig looks terrible and the sleeves aren't right. Oh well, I won!

I was surprised by the piece of my costume that everyone at work loved the most. The boots! They thought boot covers were the most clever things they had ever seen. So strange!
I have slightly more than 3,000 words. Today I was supposed to have more than 8,000. I am full of fail. However, I'm not giving up. I am writing on the bus and the train, gaining about 800 words in each direction. I also have plans to write during lunch, should I ever find time for a proper lunch. In addition, I fully intend on attending meetup nights on wednesday and friday. I got about 1,500 words at the last one, and I was only there for an hour.

So even though I'm far behind, there are plenty of places to catch up. Now I just need to figure out how to get myself to type in the evenings. That's my big slow spot. I get home, curl up with my dog, and fall asleep. No writing achieved.
I went to a nanowrimo meetup tonight after stalling for many hours. I get so scared meeting new people. Turns out it wasn't as bad as I had feared. And oddly enough, the people who were there were the group of people I always saw at panera during knitting nights. They weren't knitting, they were a different group that always looked like they were having more fun than I was. I had been a bit jealous of them. But now I get to meet them. So we'll see if they are as interesting as they seem.

I got about 1,000 words done in the hour I was there. Had I not started over this afternoon, that would be impressive. But I hated my story and started over so I'm only at a grand total of about 1,500 words.

It's a good thing I have the weekend to catch up, right?
Let's see. So the day before halloween we carved our pumpkin at work. I was unimpressed by it but the others were happy so that's good. It wasn't much of a challenge for me though.

When I got home I got to play with SCIENCE! by baking window cookies. I needed to experiment in order to find the correct baking time to ensure tasty cookies and clear candy windows. the correct formula was the full baking time minus 3 minutes for the cookies alone, and then add the crushed candy for the final 3 minutes. Yay science!

Halloween day, I wore my grim reaper costume. I think I looked fantastic. However, while on my way to work, I thought I had the wrong day. I didn't see anyone else with a costume! People are so boring. I got lots of compliments on my costume though.

Despite looking great, I only got 2nd place in the costume contest. (And we only got honorable mention in the pumpkin carving contest, but that was to be expected.) Marge Simpson won, which I guess makes sense because people will be more inclined to vote for the funny and familiar over um, death. I'm going to enter the costume in a few online contests, so maybe I'll win something there. (Which reminds me, I need to upload those pictures so I can enter before the deadline.)

A cut was needed )

Not a good start, but better than last year I guess.

It helps that I can type the whole thing in google docs because then I can access my story from any computer. That let me work on it a bit during my moments of downtime at work. What brief moments I had. Work was pretty busy today. I was exhausted by the time I got home.

Ben was nice to me and made me dinner while I rested after work. He made panini sandwiches. I was suspicious of them at first, but they were actually pretty good. I liked the crunchy bread.

I think I'm going to go to bed pretty soon. Hopefully tomorrow won't be as busy as today. I didn't get any cleaning done today. Too exhausted!

And now there is a very needy dog sitting on my foot shaking because OMG! I'm not paying attention to her! I should find a way to harness the energy in her shaking. I could easily cut the electric bill in half. (Chihuahua power could become one of the greatest sources of alternative energy.)

[EDIT] Username being your nanowrimo username. ^^;
The outline of the first couple chapters of a nanowrimo story just came to me. I quickly jotted the ideas down, which I'm pretty sure is not against the rules. After all, if I forgot my ideas I wouldn't have a story to work on at all.

Tonight and tomorrow I'm going to work on job search stuff so that I can have november relatively clear for writing. I'd really like to make it to the end this year!
So who's trying for nanowrimo next month? It might be too early to think about it, but I'm already trying to plan ahead so I won't have anything to get in the way of writing this year.
My keyboard is full of crunchy things. It's also sticky from pomegranate juice that happens to also be all over my monitor. I'm a mess! Or at least my computer is. Bleh, I've got to clean this thing.

Anyway, last night I achieved stir fry. And very yummy french fries. While we ate dinner, ben watched Yakitate with me. I think I'm going to bring my yakitate home with me for christmas and subject friends to the show. Because it is FANTASTIC! Plus I want others to fear Kid as much as I do. I wonder if that's actually how the Japanese see americans. God, he's so scary.

Oh no! The month is over? I so did not get off the ground with my novel. :( I fail nanowrimo. I got distracted with car issues and con issues and video games. Bah. Well, I can always try again next year!

I think that's pretty decent, since I'm still just starting out. Though, hopefully once I start getting into the meat of the thing, the words will move faster.
My happy thought for the day is a picture of a puggle. That's part pug, part beagle, I think. Well, whatever it is, it's really cute.

Truthfully though, I think it's rather silly for people to pay so much money for these "designer" dogs. They're basically mutts. And if you want a mutt, there are so many dogs at local shelters that need homes. They're really cute too.

Anyway, I've been thinking about my novel while at work and I think I figured out some of the setting. It helped that I realized my original concept is nothing like what I started to write. Also, it helped when I realized that since this doesn't have to be good, I should just stick to writing what I know. This should, hopefully be easier now.
New icon. I made it myself. :)

Wrote about 100 words this morning. It's getting a little easier now that I started. Unfortunately, I got stuck on setting. :P That's what I get for not thinking this out too far.

I don't like this game anymore... :P
So, I have lots of free time. I can do NaNoWriMo, right?

Signed up...now I just need an idea.... *thinks hard*
