1. I need to learn to take fewer pictures.
2. Finally done going through all 200+ zoo pictures.

Lion Pride

A couple more zoo pictures )
I took a ridiculous number of pictures at the zoo. I am still sorting them. Hopefully I'll finish by the end of the weekend. Here is a preview:
Panda with a box on its head
Yesterday was supposed to be my laser hair appointment. I was super nervous all morning about getting to georgetown safely. Then, while on the train, I got a call from the laser people saying my appointment was canceled!

At first I was extremely upset because I really hate when things don't go according to plan. But I was able to calm down after a bit. I then took a slight detour and spent the day at the zoo instead. Yay animals!

My first stop was the baby lions. They are so cute! They were running around playing and being adorable. I would have wanted to hug them if they didn't have the power to rip my head off.

After that, I leisurely toured the zoo. It was super crowded because of spring break, so I was only able to get into one of the animal houses. After the first one, the lines were too long to bother. But that was ok because I have been to the zoo before and knew what kind of stuff was inside each building. Plus, it's not like I paid to get in. Can't complain too much when the entertainment is free.

For the first time since I moved to the area, I saw the orangutans on their rope walk thing. That was pretty cool. For the longest time, I felt like the zoo lied about the apes actually using the rope bridge to get around.

I laughed while walking around because one kid at the zoo was totally stoked about the komodo dragon in the reptile house. He was like, "OH MY GOD! They have a DRAGON! A real, live DRAGON! Mom! We HAVE to SEE the DRAGON!" He was totally losing it over the dragon. I felt a little bad for him cause he was going to be really disappointed when he actually saw it.

I also laughed at the pandas cause one was sitting there WITH A BUCKET ON ITS HEAD. Pandas can be so awesomely ridiculous. I took lots of pictures. I hope I got at least one good one. Cause panda! With a bucket! On its head!

At the end of the day, I was tired and thirsty so I decided to buy a shaved ice. Unfortunately the one person selling them was a shaved ice artist. Every cup had to be perfect. From the shape of the ice to the way the colored syrup was poured. She would even dump it out and start over if she messed up. It took a very long time to get my snack...

I sat on a bench to enjoy my long waited shaved ice, when this weird little girl walked right into me. I wasn't even in the way. She totally went out of her way to stumbled into me. I gave her a look like, "What are you doing!?" and she SMILED back before wandering off again. So then I frantically went through all my bags to make sure she didn't steal anything. What a weirdo.

Getting home took significantly less time than expected, so I was stuck waiting at the bus stop for an hour until ben could get out of work. I did some reading, but was really sore from all the walking so it was hard to concentrate.

I ended up going to bed just after 8. I was really tired. But then I woke up again around 1:30! Awful! And couldn't fall back asleep again until 5, when ben got back from his midnight work shift and was able to cuddle me. I'm normally a good sleeper so this all left me very baffled. Especially after such an exhausting day!
[Poll #943925]
Well, I finally got all my pictures from the zoo uploaded. My god it took forever! But now I can share my fabulous zoo adventure! Yay!

It started bright and early in the morning. I wanted to get to the zoo by 11am because I had tickets to see the baby panda. Last time I had tickets it snowed and the zoo was closed. I was determined to NOT miss the panda this time. I had a panda hat and a Darwin shirt and by god I was either going to see that panda or kill someone trying.

So yeah, I couldn't find parking and the train was late. So I missed my panda ticket time. :(

Luckily though, the baby panda was outside and they were letting anyone go over to see him! YAY!!! Pandas! ) I was very pleased that I got to see the pandas. Ben then took me to the gift shop to buy me a super soft panda plushie, and a panda sippy mug. They also had tarepanda alarm clocks! I wanted one, but I couldn't think of another reason I'd need an alarm clock. I wish they were selling other tarepanda stuff.

After a short lunch, we went to the elephant house. Large smelly animals! )

We next found ourselves at the small mammal house. Most of the pictures here were taken by ben because he is the rodent king! They'd see him and come running out of their little holes to pose for him. It was cute and creepy at the same time. Small furry things )

After that we went to the lizard house, but I didn't have time to take pictures. Ben was sad and hot in there. Our visit to the primate house was short as well, thanks to a vomiting orangutan. Then we ended up in what we thought was an exhibit on animal intelligence. Instead we got to see monkeys with large red butts mating. Eww.

While fleeing from that scene, we caught the sea lion feeding! Yay! Though I couldn't help but wonder if the sea lion was lonely all by herself )

From there we went to the Amazon house. It was hot and made ben sad. I liked it though. I like to pretend I'm actually walking through a rainforest. Big fish in the amazon! )

The day ended with cute little prairie dogs. Their tails were wagging and everything. I wanted to stick one in my pocket and take it home! The cuteness! )
Yesterday was my trip to the zoo. I won't go into too much detail, since I took pictures and want to post them later.

I was REALLY stressed out getting there though. I had to most awful time trying to find parking at the train station. And then it took forever for the train to arrive. By the time I actually go on a train, I had missed my viewing time for my panda tickets. (Don't worry, it all worked out in the end.)

So yes, zooing. With pictures to follow later.

By the end of the day I was soooooo tired. We stopped at a sandwich place for dinner cause there was no way either of us would be capable of cooking. I was too tired to even make decisions. I made sad faces at ben and threw tantrums. But I felt a little better after I ate something.

When we got home, I took a nap. It was supposed to be a short one but I just couldn't wake up. It was like I was paralyzed with sleep. And I was soooo cranky when I tried to wake up. But ben is the sweetest and didn't get angry at me. In the end, I managed to stay awake for about half an hour before I went back to bed.

I went to sleep with my new panda plushie. It's very soft. Ben bought it for me. He pointed out at bedtime that I rarely sleep with plushies anymore. I guess it's cause I can hold onto ben instead. He's much better than any plushie.
I wonder if anyone would get upset if I start embroidering. I did pretty much everything I was asked to do today. Nothing left but those little fiddly things that are given to me just to keep busy. And I don't want to do anymore of those for fear of running out. I like to spread those out, doing no more than one or two a day, so that I always have something to do each day.

During lunch today I mentioned wanting to see butterstick but having to work around ben's no-weekend schedule this month. It was then suggested that maybe the office will be closed that day, since everyone will be getting back from a summit thing and be really tired anyone. I'm not sure if those are definite plans, but I got myself new panda tickets just in case. I'm glad it'll be a monday because those tickets seem to run out last. There were lots of free time slots. I'll wear my panda hat and darwin shirt and be oh so cool. And maybe there will be cherry blossoms by then too.
I got sleep.Yay sleep!

And karma is kicking in for things in the past. It's wonderfully liberating. Yay karma!

And if I ever get dressed today, I will buy vast amounts of yarn for my panda hat. Yay pandas!

Genius!

It will probably be chilly the day I go to the zoo to see the baby panda. I will probably need a hat.

Project for this month: PANDA HAT!!!!

I shall make a white hat and knit little black ears for it! It will be brilliant!
Guess who got panda tickets! MEEEEEEE!!!!

Ben and I will get to go on February 12th! Yay!
A bird pooped on my new car! *sad* My old car they never touched. But my shiny new one seemed to be the perfect place for their poop. Stupid birds.

But I shall try not to think about that...

I found some old cd mixes I made back in the day, before my hard drive crashed. It made me so happy that I still have some of my old songs! I was singing the theme to Pita-Ten all the way to work. Oh, and I have Scooter Boy! Yay!!!

The cds also made me realize the serious lack of panda songs I own. I have "Pandas Painting Pictures" and "Violent House Panda". No other panda songs! So um, if you have one, can you send it to me? Or if you know of one, let me know so I can try to find it? I feel it is necessary to make a panda mix on the archos.
Poooo, I lose at pandas. After spending an hour fighting with timeouts and filled slots, I am defeated. No panda tickets for me. *sad*
Today's the day they start giving out tickets to see the baby panda. So of course the zoo's site is down. I bet too many people are trying to access it at once.

I'm glad this is a short week because I am very very tired. Went to bed too late I guess. Ben and I were playing City of Villians together until really late. So far I am enjoying it more than warcraft, mostly because there has been little to no lag. Very long load times, but I spent my super gaming years on a playstation, the king of loading.

Oh, and today my grandma goes into surgery for breast cancer. Think happy thoughts for her?
Ben was REALLY cranky last night. I thought it was because of something I had said or done. He said it was because he had a bad day at work. However, the way he was acting, I couldn't tell if that was true. He was either mad at me, or mad at work and taking it out on me.

It made me very upset. And I was trying really hard to do nice things for him and make him happy and not cry. But then he would do things like leave me alone in the supermarket without even telling me he was going.

And then he went to buy a new video game, City of Villains, and told me it was because it didn't have stupid quests like warcraft. He was throwing my words back at me. I was convinced then that he was really mad at me, not work. But he insisted it was just work. I was confused and sad.

When I got home I told him he was being mean. Then he was annoyed because he thought I was telling him he could never be in a bad mood. But that wasn't it. I just didn't like him being angry at me. So I hid in the bathroom to cry.

Ben, being the perfect boyfriend that he is, must have realized how he was acting because he made dinner for me and apologized. He's a good boyfriend. And I'm glad he started to feel better once he got home.

We then spent the evening trying out his new game. Ben made Hollow Jack. I made The Purple Panda Pirate. I really like my super powers and my BRIGHT purple outfit. With a panda on my shoulder. His name is butterstick.
So, a while back a baby panda was born at the national zoo. There was a naming contest, with lots of fancy chinese names. I wanted them to name the panda Butterstick. However, that wasn't one of the choices. I picked Tai Shan instead. I liked how it sounded kinda like Taiwan (The panda is going to be shipped back to China when it gets older.) and also that seemed like a lucky name. I must have been right about the lucky part because that's the name that won.

I have spent the day trying to figure out when they will open the panda to the public. It's by ticket only and I want to reserve mine. Seems right now reservations are only open to Friends of the Zoo.

Scroll down for the panda cam!

Or if he's nowhere to be seen on the cam, here's a video of Butterstick getting a check-up and playing.
